Contra.
Is a very simple game.
The only implied difficulty is the limited number of lives.
If you'll notice, it becomes very easily doable by using the "Konami Code" and getting more than 3 lives.
The game isn't hard, it just has a harsher penalty for failure.
1 hit deaths. And when enemies can run faster than you, and touching the enemy causes death, and bullets are flying every which way, it's hard.

Now, Contra 1 wasn't that hard. Contra III and Contra Hard Corpse were hard.
I'm aware what the game is. I've beaten all the old ones.
And as I said. Play the game with extra/infinite lives. The games are much more easily doable, because you have more lenience in the number of times you can screw up.
It's only fake difficulty.

It's only easy because you're cheating which completely goes against what you're saying in the first place.

/facepalm

By not using cheats, your just creating a bigger penalty for yourself for losing. It's not the game, it's you. neutral

1. Older games have more replayability when all you had was beating the game and that's it. Surely current gen game have no replayability even with online, DLC, and achievements/trophies.
2. Older or newer games neither is more difficult than the other.
3. Difficulty and game quality exact same as 2.
4.Yea several 25 yearold friends over your house to play games is much better than playing with someone from another part world. And if you happen to have a disagreement over a game simply removing them from your friendslist is so much worse than going through drama IRL that may result in fisticuffs.
5. Stop beeing a retro elitist.

Anyone who's going to fisticuffs over a game needs a chill pill.>.>

Caselvaina, Metroid without map...umm lets see Rocket Knight without credits Xmen for Sega while only useing one char the whole game. Xmen one without a reset buton, umm Gost Busters without a turbo controler.
Maybe if you're an idiot with no sense of direction...
lol @ ignorance.

Metroid 1 and 2 didn't have maps to look at.

Not until 3 did they start providing you with one.

This is what I'm hearing: "Use cheat codes and the game isn't hard."

Well duh. That's what cheat codes are for. Easy mode. The point of Contra and most older games was to get the highest score. A score that is reset to 0 if you use a continue. You must have had one piss poor low score since you kept dieing.

Go back and play the game without cheats, then get back to us, 'kay?
I have.
You're missing the point.

First off haveing less life dose make a game more difficult if you had a hundred lifes and played mario unless your in a coma or just brain dead you will beat the game. Not only that alout of these games are hard and jut becase you beat them dosen't make them less so it like saying I have turn 10 and then I turned 11 dosen't mean I wasn't 10 one time in my life. And you probly didn't find it all too dificult but at the same time you probly played it more then once so stop makeing it sound like your a gameing god both you damn trolls.

Playing with Extra/Infinite lives is cheating the game. It isn't a fake difficulty, you're just taking the easy way out.
False.
The game itself is simple and easy.
The limited tries is a fake difficulty saying that you can't fail as much.
Halo on Legendary is a lot harder than Super Mario Bros, but it doesn't seem as much because you don't have to restart the game if you screw up a few times.

Saying that I beat them and didn't have a challenge means that you saying that they are hard is irrelevant, because I'm proving that opinion wrong.

Ah, I misread.

I thought it said "Maybe if you're an idiot that didn't press start."

Wouldn't the need for infinite lives suggest that a game is, in fact, difficult?

Really?

So it's really easy to get the highest score and not die without using the Konami code?

I wanna see your initials on a leader board.

Eet ees good day to be woman!
Also another point in m littel rant was to also say how easy it is to play new games , I beat almost all the new "good" games I like have had like two games I haven't beat and that most time pepole spend at a game is a good 9 hours. Like look at Halo, Gears, Call of Duty too sempel.

I only haven't beat is Assain's Creed becase I am lazy and it is too tedous for words. Also Prototype (the lesser) and InFomus (The geater) becase I don't have the cash for them.

Turning up the difficulty in Halo is alot like what you're describing with the limited lives.

Turn down the difficulty to it's default and you'll see that legendary is just a fake difficulty and in reality Halo isn't hard.
