it isnt respawn. you have to start the level over when you die

...You mean respawning at the beginning of the level...

not if you use the save point which is optional. and you would be stupid to not use it but if you dont then its more challenging.

Save points =/= lives.

no lives=when it gives you a number at the top of the screen showing the number you have left. like old video games used to. not this regenerating health and save point ****. a save point is a save point not a life

The intended purpose is what the developers had in mind. They didn't want everyone running around using the Konami code willy nilly to beat the game. They wanted everyone to try their damnedest to play the game without dieing to get the highest score.

Yep it how it has been when it comes down to it even a free rome game has a planed out trail that you have to fallow to see the story unfold, you may find diferents ways to do it but it still is the same basic way to do what you need to do.Also arcade games were made so like times like this there is proof you are a good gamer like beating DD and geting a high score beter then someone who beat the game is fundmental whould you have more props for the rich kid who shot down 30 bucks to beat the game becase he has no skill or the guy who put in his quarter and got a huge score and made it about halfway there.

I don't see what's so bad about online. Yeah, you get the ability to meet people you didn't know (Which, I don't understand why that is so bad. If they're good at gaming and fun to play with, why the hell should it matter if you know them in real life or not?), but it also makes it easier to play with friends. Instead of having to waste gas driving over to their house, I could just play online. Not to mention, if I had friends over, I'd have to waste a few hours making my house presentable, which I could've used to play with them.

Anyways, more on topic. While games might be vastly different today, one thing usually rings true: if you master the mechanics of the game, it can be beat. Seriously, once you understand the patterns and strategies needed, it all makes sense. This is easier to see in the older games, but it can be applied in lots of newer games, too.

Second, if you're playing at your best and you still cannot complete something, then as far as you are concerned, that task is hard, even if someone else in the world can complete that same task.

Apparently it was, since my original and continuous point was that you cannot prove to me that games are hard if I haven't had a hard time with them.

No, it wasn't. Naturally, the measure of difficulty will vary according to the player's skill. This doesn't mean that a specific game is inherently hard; it means that it is hard or easy relative to the player's skill level. Remember: if you suck, then it is hard; if you are good, then it is easy.

Utilizing save points, even mid level, suggests that you're loading up a file that was recorded before your death, thus you're still on the same life.
