I don't believe in god or any higher power due to the amount of suffering in the world, and that a lot of this suffering is placed upon those who do not deserve it.

What are you're opinions on this? And why or why don't you believe in a higher power?
.
The biggest problem is that you assume all higher powers are benevolent or care about life on this planet. Most popular religions have a benevolent deity, but it is not necessarily a property of a higher power if such a thing does exist.

What Doubtful Dreamer said i.e. who are you to judge who is deserving?

I believe in a higher power because I am aware of my own finitude.

I don't believe suffering has to be absent to prove God.
I think it has a purpose and a place.

What would be the purpose?

Do you think that those who believe in God and who cannot answer that question, but instead simply say that His reasoning is beyond human comprehension are just giving cop-out answers?

If this deity is omnibenevolent, omniscient, and omnipotent; then suffering certainly needs to be absent to prove it exists.

Thus, Haha Coffee isn't defining the deity as omnibenovlent, omnscient, and omnipotent - neither did the OP.

Or is displaying their cognitive dissonance on the subject.

Not directly, no.

I can obviously agree that there is a lot of injustice in the world, which is why I believe very strongly in life after death and a Judgement day where everyone will be put in their place.

In my opinion, Suffering is the whole point of life. The constant goal to achieve peace for yourself. Once that is obtained, peace for your friends, and eventually, bliss for all mankind. If life was perfect, there would be nothing left to strive for. Some people just use a higher power to jump start the path to bliss.

I can obviously agree there is a lot of injustice in this world, which is why I believe some people are put in their place in this life and placate themselves with the promise of salvation in some other life...usually promised by the very people putting them in their place.

I disbelieve in a god for a different reason...and that reason is...no...evidence...whatsoever.
I don't believe in God because I have never seen anything to suggest that it believes in me.
I think quite the opposite. Surely life screwing me at each and every turn is evidence of some universal conspiracy.
