As for music artists... Jordan Page I listen to his Revolution EP daily.
His songs Pendulum, Listen, and Song for Bob Dylan gets put on repeat.

I'd have to say alternative rock. They love to experiment, too. Their sound changes pretty drastically between some albums.

If you ever feel like checking them out, I'd suggest "Good News for People Who Love Bad News" or "We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank." Amazing albums. "The Moon & Antarctica" is great too, but I wouldn't suggest it for your first album.
