I haven't played a ton of tabletop RPGs, mostly D&D 4th Ed., but I'm pretty good at picking up rules. I'd live to play MTG with a stranger, but how does one accomplish the feat of doing it without webcams?

Well I'll trust you if you trust me.

Just tell me what you play and tap. I've done it before, usually I make notes as I go along, so I remember what the person has done, and how much mana they've played that turn.

Shame Gaia doesn't have instant messaging anymore though. It'd be hard to intercept regarding instants without IM. Are you familiar with IRC? We could easily use webchat from an alternate source - plus, no need for usernames.

Back to the RPGs - I like D&D 4th Ed, but I've not had much games with it sadly. I've played a lot of the 3.5 Ed, which is quite different in a way, and not so in others. *shrug* Do you play these RPGs in person or do you play them online?

Mostly, online, over Rolld20, but its been about a year since I've been able to do so. I'm not damulluar with IRC, other than hearing of it. 4th Ed is very simple, which is great for a lazy GM, but less so for a creative player.
