Rolo from Code Geass R2 upgraded himself from being a rag to a likeable character.
He's the one one loyal to Lelouch after the whole Dark Knights turned on him. He trusted Lelouch as his brother and was content on having a brother like him (even though Lelouch never thought of him as one). I stopped watching Code geass after they killed him.

The way he died was too sad, even to my standards.

Sergei from Gundam 00 also died in a very sad way.
He thought he was actually doing his country a favour, only to be backstabbed by the commander whom he trusted and killed by his own son.

I can see why Jiraiya and Ace are in your list but why Roshi? He'd only died once right when battling evil king piccolo when he failed to seal him/it?

It was just sad to see him die when he was trying to protect Tenshinhan. While he's old and hilarious, he's still wise and selfless.
