Personaly, I adore the Twilight Saga, because the description of the characters, and the depth Stephenie Meyer goes into to make the characters seem real, is what amazes me.
I have a few published works myself, and I am a writer, grant it, I am not professional, nor do I intend on making a career out of it, but still.
Anyway. Its not that it is a FANTASTIC BOOK, because I was very much let down at the plot itself. Each book followed the same pattern. It was the discriptions, and how she used her words, that made me love the books.
Maybe, look at it in a different point of view.
Not that it is a wounderful Novel, but just something thats really good at opening the imagination.

The Twilight series is based on emotion. Edward says what so many girls wish that their guy would say to them, even though when said aloud, they are idiotic. (Anyone ever read Twilight aloud to a group? It takes on a /whole/ different sound.) All in all, Meyers spends too much time describing things. Her books would be much shorter if she let her readers imagine more.

That said, I did enjoy the books, I have read them several times, they still make me cry and yes, I still cry at parts. I love Jacob. I mean... he has /got/ to be hot.

it ties romance with action and every part of the book is very descriptive for the most part also young teenage girls like me can relate to it and tie it into our own relationships like calling your boyfriend the lion and he calling you the lamb and saying sweet things from the book; breaking dawn is my favorite book because it has action, its nerve racking if you really get into it and it has many things i can relate to weirdly xp i hope this helped 4laugh

I agree, but there is usually some part of the main character that can be related to. Bella is quiet, suicidal, self conscious, hardly confident, and oblivious to her convenient beauty.

Are you saying Teenage girls cant relate to that? Sure not everyone is Suicidal, but the other stuff yeah totally relates to the "normal" teenage girl. You will rarely find a teenage girl who isn’t self conscious, or a woman/man/other for that matter.

I'm not saying that she was relatable, but most of those traits are relatable.

To be honest I felt like Bella was way too depressed through out the book. Some of it though wasn't undeserved. I felt like she was more of an Anti-Sue(Or even an insert) and Edward was a Mary Sue(Stu).

I think she just wrote like that just to become popular. Its like down to basics writing. I've read a paragraph of her other book(I didn't have time or the boredom to read more), but that paragraph seems to be written a lot better then the entire first book of Twilight. Now I can't say that for sure, because I've only read a random paragraph to see if there was a difference. So my friend and I believe that she wrote like that just to get her book to become popular.

My friend didn't like it because she didn't like the way the vampires where. She grew up watching Buffy, and used that as her basic reference for it. Infact the lady who wrote the book said she did no research for the book. Yeah for vampires its pretty much straight forward, but still do some research.

Something I hated from the first book was on the back there’s a quote from some guy or publication that says something along the lines of “Equal romance and suspense.” I did not feel any suspense in the book it’s self. None. I knew there where parts that where suppose to be suspense, but it wasn’t. Most of it was very rushed.

The movie sucked pure and simple. The person who played Bella sucked as her character and even Rob sucked as Edward at times. the book was way better than the movie.

Yeah the movie sucked, if you didn't read the book you wouldn't understand the middle part of it. It wasn't that good over all. The only thing I like about it was it had a lot more foreshadowing of the "Villains."

Now the real reason I quoted you. I've seen the actress in another movie, and she did well. I don't think it was her acting, it was the role she was put in. How do you play an anti-social teenage girl who's so depressed about everything? I would have no idea how to approach that at all. So she did her best for the role.

Nothing. There is no reason behind the sparkling; I am a bit of a scifi nerd, but living (and ex-living too) have reasons why they appear the way they do. Traditional vampires don't have pigmintation in their skin, so they burn in the sun. The same concept is present in I Am Legend.

Ok i admit sparkly vamps is rather weird but people act as if it's talked about ever other sentence. The sparkly aspect of her vamps is talked about ONCE in the entire series.

That should tell you how much of a smudge it is. Its the underlying reason they can't be outside in the sun. It may have only been mentioned once, but still its just so…Yeah. The writer could have done so many other things besides sparkling.

This is pretty true for a teenage romance, but for a story book romance it wasn’t that good. Teenagers relationships don’t last a long time, nor does it take long to fall in love. I just feel like the book needed a little bit more of a build up.

One of my favorite quotes come from a male student from Dwyer High school, when he was on Oprah with his girlfriend and they where talking about sex. The question that was asked from him was “How long to you plan to date her?” His reply was “About Six months to a year.” I loved the girls expression. Anyway, I’m just waiting for Bella’s realize it shouldn’t last. I have nothing against them, but she’s a teenager(yeah I know they can fall in “love“, but they can fall out of love just as easily).

You're classifying that all teenage relationships don't last, and that most if not all aren't real love. That's not true. Yes, most don't last, but that don't mean that the other small percent doesn't.

Anyway, your only looking at the relationship in the first book.
There is plenty of build up if you pay attention to how they are around each other through the four books. Their relationship grows, and bonds they have tighten as the books continue. You can't say there wasn't enough build up in the relationship, when it builds up through out all four books.

I'm glad someone else has read the Host! I do agree that it was a harder read but I thought it was worth while. Actually, after falling in love with the emotional story of the Twilight series I read the Host and really compared the two. The Host beats the Twilight series in composition, style, completeness and craftmanship hands down. However, because it is a wierd scifi story, it isn't for everyone.

Plus, after reading the first book, I did some research on how Twilight came about. What I found was that Stephanie Myer had had a dream about the meadow scene and then wrote it down and from there worked to the end of the story. Then she went back to the begining and wrote it till it matched up. No real plan was involved except the utter involvement of your emotions if you have any to put forth. I do love the story and Myer's descriptions but I will admit that it lacks in most forms of decent writing. Try reading the Host. It will amaze even the most unwanting of readers. By the way, you are suppose to feel utterly detatched from the book at the begining of the Host. As you progress throught the book you will understand completely why Ms. Myers did that.

I don't read too often. It's very hard for me to find a book that I'll actually like.

My boyfriends mother told me about Twilight(before the 4th book came out), and I thought to myself; "That's so dumb. I probably wont like it. I hate vampire stories...."
But all in all, I loved twilight. For me it was a straight read. There wasn't a moment while I read that book that I didn't get bored at. Usually I'll start a book, and the first two chapters suck, so I stop reading it.
Though, I have to admit, I do dislike the whole sparkle thing the vampires have going on.
It's also many younger girls can relate to Bella. Or at least I can, because that's how I feel about life. Well, not so much anymore.
But anyways, I have only read the first two books. Both, I think, are good.
I love how she describes everything, so you can picture it all in your head. Like you're watching the book.
It's romance, romances are usually something that are our fantasies.
I don't see why so many people dislike the book. I'm a hard reader to please, and Twilight pleased me just well. Last time I read a book so quickly and enjoingly other than the first Twilight book was Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, or the last book to Lemony Snickets: A Series of Unfortunate Events series.
I enjoyed the movie.
BUt there are two things I have to say;
the actress they chose for Bella, sucks. I mean did you see here face before she almost got hit by the car? What horrible acting right there, I saw no terror and thoughts of dieing in that face.
And Edward, he's ugly....
Anyways, I think the series is great.
And just because you don't like it doesn't mean you have to bash others for liking it.

Oh sorry for the absolute, I usually don’t like them and I try to avoid them. I know that there is the small percent that do make it, but a lot don’t. So I was going for the over all. I just don’t feel like you should be so quick to jump the gun(the way she wants to become a vampire so fast.) Because they pretty much(to me), it was rushed in the first book(the only one I‘ve read).

Yeah, I’ve only read the first book. I didn’t like it enough to read the second.

I only read a random paragraph in that book. So I couldn’t really compare it either.

Sadly, I used to like it too, and then people began to point out all the errors in the literature and it and I just couldn't read it anymore.
Because I saw it everywhere.
If the movie had never come out I would be reading happily. Especially since I bought all four books with money I made (And when your 11-14, or somewhere around there, that's not an easy task). I can't completely bash Twilight, because I used to like it. What I don't like is how many people OBSESS over it like it's best book ever written. Which it's not.
