I agree, but there is usually some part of the main character that can be related to. Bella is quiet, suicidal, self conscious, hardly confident, and oblivious to her convenient beauty.

I got dragged to see the film and from as far as I could gather, Bella had no personality whatsoever and thought this was so any teenage girl could pretend they were her.

All it seemed she had to do was not be afraid of vegetarian vampires, high speeds, and glitter.

Also, why is it that apparently the dominant two feelings in vampires are thirst for blood and lust?
I wouldn't call Stephine's "vampires" THE vampire. Even though vampires don't exist, she still raped the way they used to be. They were awesome waaaay back. I think she wants to make "perfect" vampires.

Every author has a different view on vampires. I personally like Laurell K Hamiltons take on vampires the best.

I appreciate people who have their own spin on classics like vampires, but these sparkly ones... They do put a black mark on the vampires of literature.

Ok i admit sparkly vamps is rather weird but people act as if it's talked about ever other sentence. The sparkly aspect of her vamps is talked about ONCE in the entire series.

@ Deathwish: I agree with her attempt at making them perfect. They aren't "the vampire," but I was only talking about the Twilight vampires. Have you noticed that the only way they can die is by being ripped to pieces and burned, but while the pieces are in the same pile, they don't pull themselves together?

@ Mei: I can relate to her at some points, and I do appreciate the romance, but if I met a person with her personality who does nothing to maintain her friendships but remains good friends with people nonetheless, I would swear it was some demonic creature or something.

It happens. I have friends who do nothing to maintain our friendship and yet i'm still friends with them. There has to be something really special for me to still be friends with them though.

I have friends I keep in contact with, but I don't hang out with them for specific reasons. If I want to stay friends with someone, I talk to them regularly. If I don't, I purposefully or accidentally ignore their existence. This usually happens only in rare cases in which someone has insulted me in a way I cannot forgive.

What is so scary about sparkly vampires, anyway?

Same; I've been reading Stephen King and been working on my own writing. Also, it's not just the sparkles. None of the vampires really seem to have any problems. Edward is over protective; hell, I'm a control freak over most of my stuff, but that's the only thing wrong with him.

I think that they aren't supposed to be that scary so tween girls won't get scared.

Nothing. There is no reason behind the sparkling; I am a bit of a scifi nerd, but living (and ex-living too) have reasons why they appear the way they do. Traditional vampires don't have pigmintation in their skin, so they burn in the sun. The same concept is present in I Am Legend.

I'll be logging off for the night, but hopefully there will be new posts in the morning.

No one can convince you that Twilight is a good series if you've read it and don't like it. I love it. It's something about the "forbidden romance", and the love triangle. Plus there's action, and adventure.
For me, it was just a book that I couldn't put down. I loved it.

I love vampires, and always have, and I've always loved the whole forbidden romance between a vampire and a human. Ever since the whole, Spike and Buffy thing. I'm a sucker for it. I'm a sucker for any kind of fantasy.

That's just the way I am, it's what I like.

I'm gonna buy a gun and start a war if you can tell me something worth fighting for.

My point of view is that the Twilight series is literary trash. Before anyone tries to hunt me down and kill me (good luck, by the way), I'd like to know why people disagree. I've read all the published books several times. I used to like the series, but then it disgusted me. Keep in mind that I'm only talking about the books! Now, I'm also a writer of many forms (high school journalist, poet with published works, and full length fiction novels that are unpublished but being edited by myself) and I've researched elements present in many books, styles of writing, and above all else cliches. I own a book called How Not to Write a Novel, and with everything I've learned, I can't see why Twilight is a good series. Please try to convince me.

I have not read the series and was not even aware of it until recently. I viewed the film for the first time via my On Demand account. It intringued me. As a generally innocent female who does not get much male attention, I must admit that I was sexually stimulated by the intense eye contact Edward gives.

So you would say it is worthwhile reading? How did you like the movie?

When I discussed this with my much older Sister-in-Law she said she could not understand why anyone would be attracted to a vampire and that the film was very creepy in her opinion.

My Sister-in-law had only viewed the film because one of her young nieces is an avid fan and begged her to see it.
