You DEFINITELY lost my vote lol. I do note vote for progressive Democrats, any candidate who talks about raising taxes on the wealthiest Americans, or talks about trying to hurt Americans at the pump to push for alternative energy sources. No offense. But I agree with you on competition in healthcare, and having a limited government that does not infringe on constitutional rights. Which is odd because most progressive Democrats want a single-payer healthcare system, and tend to knock the Constitution. But your views will appeal to others. For the most part I am your exact opposite, a conservative Republican in the mold of those like former President Calvin Coolidge.
By progressive I mean I am open to alternatives. I'm a fan of LBJ, do you think his 'Great Society' would've happened if we hadn't gotten into Vietnam?

And when I think progressive I think social justice and wealth redistribution. I think of economic stagnation and union thugs. I think of increased poverty and less liberty and freedom. I think of individuals willing to sell American sovereignty away to the United Nations. I think of successful individuals being punished for being successful and making money. I see myself spending more for food and energy because of inflation and climate change legislation. Not too mention lower-quality healthcare in which government bureaucrats determine my healthcare. I also see moral decay, a loss of American traditional values and a rise in secularism, as well as one big middle finger to the Constitution.

As far as LBJ, I cannot stand him. Just another big-government progressive who wasted money on government programs and a bloody and long war in South-East Asia that no one wanted. Actually I would have loved if the Great Society had never happened. I consider the programs created under it to be absolute failures that have prolonged poverty for the last half of the century and bankrupted our country. Like I had said, I am a Coolidge-style conservative Republican. The Republicans that drastically cut income and corporate taxes down to nothing, were very pro-free-market capitalism, limited government, would not spend money on domestic programs, made sure that debt was payed off, did not get involved militarily in other countries, and so forth. I am glad that people like Coolidge actually kicked the progressives out of the Republican Party in the 1920s and returned it to its conservative roots.
n a free market, what stops monopolies and people from selling faulty items? The government needs to regulate somewhere, right? I don't want some communist command economy, I just want people to not get screwed over.

The government should play a limited, and I mean limited role in the market. If the government plays too large a role, then we either hurt economic growth, or end up with socialism or crony capitalism. Government regulations more often that not hurt businesses and economic growth these days. Why else are the businesses large and small in the United States sitting on a trillion dollars of wealth that could be used to employ Americans again? Because progressives continue putting burden after burden on them, from tax increases, to healthcare costs, energy prices, huge levels of national debt and continued wasteful spending, and so forth. Progressives are creating so much uncertainty, that they are pretty much dooming our economy. Why else do you think the unemployment rate is decreasing? It is decreasing because those hard-working Americans who want jobs have completely given up and left the market all together. Progressives really are only for food stamps and welfare these days. They love taxing the people that invest in America and create jobs so that some inner city minorities can get their free healthcare through Medicaid. Progressive policies are why this country will never alleviate poverty. They believe the only way to fix a problem is for the government to get involved and punish the most successful and take their money to throw at the problem areas of society and it does no work.

The reason I want to run for office someday is to prevent progressives like you from getting your way and harming my country any further. I want to fight the people who want to tax, regulate, and spend more money. The people who want to increase the size of government, and harm my liberties and freedoms. There is a reason the few politicians I admire were people who repudiated progressive ideas and policies after all, people who led to a rise in conservative ascendancy and prosperity in the United States. And I hope to be part of the catalyst that triggers a new era of limited government and market prosperity for all Americans. You may have good intentions but one regulation leads to another with progressives, and you only stifle businesses in the end. The market is not perfect but it functions better when the government and business are not joined at the hip with one another.
Sorry, mixed market capitalism is the answer. I refuse to let workers rights get pissed down the drain for the pockets of the 1%. We need to invest in our middle class because wealth doesn't trickle down. The wealth will eventually go up when people have dollars to spend. If people have money to spend, recession will be a thing of the past. Total market freedom will cause inequality. Government has to get involved somewhere. These people on wel-fare aren't lazy "inner city minorities" they're people like you and I who are trying to get a foot in a door that keeps slamming shut each time they extend their leg. This country isn't a game that can be played. We've seen monopoly happen, artificial inflation comes next, goods need to be affordable. Barrack Obama is no progressive.

I'm running for President to save this country.

Sorry to break it to you Jacque, but I don't think you should be President.
It would be a waste of your great knowledge and views, as all the President really does is uselessly advocate things and be a figurehead. I do however think you should lead our revolution and become our dictator. =]

You know I had typed something out, but then I thought that a video I found a year ago sums up our debate much better:

The Tea Party (Ikari) vs Occupy Wall Street (Jacque)

My classical liberalism vs your modern progressivism. We are essentially arguing for two completely different systems that have absolutely nothing in common with one another. And is also why Republicans and Democrats cannot agree on anything when it comes to running the government.

Timid Streaker

I'd vote for ya, even though I'm not a big fan of LBJ.

Know anybody with ACORN ties? You're going to need money, and ALOT of it.
You'd be a terrible president. Various groups would bulldoze you before you even go through the White House door.

get a degree in something that makes sense. like buisness and managment, start you own company show how its been sucessfull improve the comunity first then when you hit about 30-40 try for pres. its more of a cumulation of all you have done, then a single thing you strive for.
THis seems to be proven fail safe considering the last election.
