The name of the book is the same as the movie, Howl's Moving Castle. It was written by Diana Wynne Jones.

have you read Castle in the Air and House of Many Ways yet? they're by the same author and are both spinoff/sequels for Howl's Moving Castle. the author was working on a fourth before she died, but didn't get far enough for it to actually get finished, sadly.

My favorite part is when Calcifer refuses to cook and when Sophie uses him to cook he curses her saying 'Here's another curse, may all your bacon burn' rofl .

I kind of agree with you. I still really like it but I also feel like it has probably the least cohesive plot of all of Miyazaki's movies that I've seen. Its very pretty though and I love all the small details in the animation.

I watched it also and loved the story but it confused me quite a bit. Even so...everything was really creative! Particularly the house. The blonde-haired boys serving the old woman in the palace remind me of Haku because of their appearance...Hahahaha! heart
