Well, you didn't say that initially - you in fact stated that "every homo [you] met is EXACTLY like that" ie a flamboyant in your face stereotype, and gave the impression it was homosexuality itself you were afraid/uncomfortable with, as opposed to certain behaviour which while attributed to homosexuals, can also be exhibited by heterosexuals.

yeah really bad habit of mine to just jump in and say things lol
but it wasnt completely incorrect
but yeah really tired but if you are saying what I think you are saying I totally agree that same behavior and oversexualized mindset can very often be found in straight men and I find it equally disgusting but less repelling. if a man walked up to a woman in front of me and started acting like that to a woman I would probably beat him half to death and not lose any sleep at night. if a man came up to another man in front of me and started doing that crap I would probably run and have nightmares for a month.

Then it really sounds like you have some issues you should consider seeing a specialist about - wanting or considering it acceptable to beat someone half to death (and without remorse) isn't a good thing, and being that terrified of something as natural as homosexuality isn't either.

LOL I never claimed I was perfect.
however fear is fear and my reaction to most things is warranted and assuming you are a woman or if not then just say its your sister and not you. some random guy comes up and sticks his hand down your pants I am sure you would not lose any sleep at night beating the s**t out of him
I would do the same
if I see a man disgracing the title of men I will have no qualms humbling him.
however a man coming onto another man....its the same as if a giant cockroach jumped up into your lap and tried to sell you burritos that glowed green and smelled like peaches and feet.
its something completely out of the element and freaky as s**t.
to be honest its not all that odd at all
and what I have as far as not losing sleep over kicking the s**t out of a guy who tries to force himself on a woman that is called honor. doing what is right because it is what is right. lol had it been a few hundred years ago I would be allowed to behead them and the world would be just that much of a better place

There is absolutely no difference between a man being a douche to a woman, and a man being a douche to a man, except for something messed up in your own head. I'm not saying that such behavior is acceptable, forcing oneself on an unwilling person no matter the gender is sexual assault, but that doesn't mean violence is acceptable, and it doesn't make a difference what gender the victim is :/ its equally disturbing when it happens and equally wrong, but the differences in your reaction suggest you have a problem other than the actual act that is occurring, and that's something for you to deal with, it isn't anyone else's problem.

And even a few hundred years ago, no, depending where you were and who you were, chances are you'd still get into trouble for beheading a man, no matter what he'd done.

lol nonsense silly
though it would really depend on where you were but I still know some folks in the south who would shoot a man dead for even talking disrespectfully to a woman, and yeah today in the middle east you can torture a man to death and or behead him simply because of the religion he chooses.
and you still didnt get it. a man making sexual advances on a man has very little difference than a man making sexual advances on a woman. however as I said previously I have a fear of homosexuals its different. if I was back in Iraq and I faced an enemy combatant yeah I could drop him with a single shot and not so much as blink
but I still freak out and scream like a girl when I see a spider crawl across my table.
get it?

oh and I do thank you for keeping your calm and respectfully just talking with me. usually by now someone is screaming in all caps about how he or she thinks I should be killed or thrown in prison, I thank you for being civil ^_^

You're right, there are places where you can behave in such a manner, but generally considering we don't refer to such places as any sort of ideal society (and I admit to my Anglophile bias, given I considered medieval England at the expense of other places/times/cultures).

And sure, but if your fear is to the point of a phobia, than its something you should probably at least try to deal with. At the very least, others shouldn't have to moderate their behaviour around you, its your fear that is irrational , not their behaviour.

No problem.

very true and I often times especially around those I have known who were gay, I restrain myself from even talking about it just out of respect for that person but yeah I do need to work on that, I feel somewhat rude reacting differently to someone who is openly homosexual.

That's good to hear that - it is rude, its offensive the same way its offensive to negatively react to someone who has differently colored skin to you...

I notice alot of people saying something along the lines of "That's offensive, you shouldn't say or do things that are offensive" right before they make an insulting (offensive) rebuttal to either the OP or to someone else. confused

So, since we're on the topic of people getting offended:

In any case, I hope you're prepared for several weeks of angry back-and-forth between everyone in this forum, as well as a good deal of hatred and rage aimed squarely at your face, and some of the most horrible comments made about your character, your mental capabilities, your family, and a bunch of other things that are really no one's business, no matter how much they might try and act like it IS their business.

Well gee, it's almost like posting insulting comments about and rejecting people's sexuality/identity makes them mad or something. Golly, imagine that!

Gay people aren't obligated to be nice to homophobes. No ones obligated to be nice to anyone who's denying their existence/human rights. emotion_eyebrow

Also lol its not OP's business when it comes to other people's sexuality either buddy. Hypocrite much?
Quit acting like shes done nothing wrong and is just a poor innocent in all this. She has the right to free speech and she posted a controversial opinion to a public forum, so everyone else has the right to respond in any way they want.

Are you saying you dislike the attraction to the same sex, but you don't dislike the actual person? Because for some reason, people can't seem to deal with that kind of reasoning. There's always going to be an aspect of a person that you don't like, but you don't see people complaining if you say something like "You're an awesome person, but I can't stand that you actually ENJOY the Twilight series!" You can still be friends, it's just that you won't agree on certain things, yes, even if it's something really important to them.

If youre against gay marriage but use the "its okay doe cuz i have gay friends!!!" card, then I can assure you that your gay friends are all talking s**t behind your back 100%
emotion_eyebrow
You know, you hear so many of these homophobes say, “I have a lot of gay friends but don’t believe in same sex marriage”, but you never hear gay people say “I’ve lots of friends who think it should be illegal for me to marry the person I love”.

 Funny huh?
So, here’s a PSA for everyone who is against marriage equality, but thinks they have gay friends. You probably don’t. What you have are gay acquaintances who have learned to quietly put up with your bullshit because it’s the path of least resistance and they just don’t have the energy to “My Fair Lady” your a** into being a decent human being.
Source: actual gay person who has to constantly put up with snobby, straight holier-then-thou people like you and the op on a daily basis.

They will say you're a horrible person, even as you do your best to remain civil. They will sling insults at you while you have insulted no one, and yet will still place all the blame solely on your shoulders.

Op hasn't been civil at all lol wut. She's attacked a couple users in this thread who called her out on her crap and insulted them more then once.

We have every right to get mad at people like the op. Being nice has literally NEVER helped the oppressed. It is not our obligation or our responsibility to “be nice” to our oppressors. It does not guarantee our safety. It does not help dismantle the oppressive systems in our culture. It dos not make our lives easier.
Demanding that the oppressed “be nice” to our oppressors if a cute way of telling us to shut up about our problems.
LGBT people aren’t trolling around and sending random anon hate to straight people because they are straight. What many of us ARE is exhausted from the constant garbage thrown our way and unwilling to play nice when people say s**t to us

So can you stop making gay people out to be these evil crazy psychopaths and people like the op to be sweet poor misunderstood whittle angels. Because frankly, it's insulting as hell.

Also, please take your condescending “you’re overreacting” bullcrap somewhere else.
Congratulations on adding absolutely nothing of value to the discussion, by the way. Just like the OP, you still don’t get it.

I'm not addressing any of your arguments because you write them in the same way many people in the ED write them: snarky, loaded, egotistical posts designed to debase the "opponent" while at the same time allowing you to feel comfortable in the knowledge that no matter what argument the opponent makes, you're morally and intellectually superior. Superior to a total stranger that you will never meet, and is ultimately, to you anyway, nothing more than a collection of data.

The way your comments are written make you seem to be someone who has no desire to educate anyone, try to show logic or reason without throwing insults into the mix, or have any sort of non-angry conversation in general; you only seem to want to attack people saying anything even remotely negative about homosexuals. I feel like it wouldn't matter what I said to you, no matter how logical or reasonable, because right now, in your eyes, I represent something that really makes your blood boil. And that's screwing up YOUR logic and reason and only leaves room for us to argue in circles.

I'm not spamming because I have nothing to say. I'm spamming because I don't see a reason to take this conversation with you seriously.

Now if I'm wrong in this view, I apologize. But that's how it looks.
