You're right, there are places where you can behave in such a manner, but generally considering we don't refer to such places as any sort of ideal society (and I admit to my Anglophile bias, given I considered medieval England at the expense of other places/times/cultures).

And sure, but if your fear is to the point of a phobia, than its something you should probably at least try to deal with. At the very least, others shouldn't have to moderate their behaviour around you, its your fear that is irrational , not their behaviour.
