no one really knows when the world will end, but in the Bible it says in Matthew 24:6-8: "And you shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that you be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. All these are the beginning of sorrows." also it shows us signs of the coming again of the Lord
This verse wouldn't happen to refer to the war in Iraq, would it?
That verse has been used as proof of the end times for every war, plague, and natural disaster ever since it was written. The nice thing about prophesying turmoil is that there WILL ALWAYS BE TURMOIL.
Dunamis - I don't think that being a believer somehow makes things better for you if the world ends. Generally (not always), if someone chooses not to believe in God or an afterlife, then they have accepted that there is no God or afterlife, and it won't bother them any more than it would a believer.
Not in this lifetime, no. But if God is a real and His rules apply to all, then those who burn in hell for not believing, or not knowing to believe, will not be happy. Having said that, by my current views on life, I'm probably heading down there, too.
Thank you for bringing up the best argument against the God of organized religion EVER!
If there is a God, and he is wise and merciful and blah blah blah, then he won't give a ******** what you believe. You'll go to heaven for being good, and to hell for being bad. I especially like the part about how even those who do not even KNOW to believe go to hell FOR ALL ETERNITY.
The way I see it, if God exists (which I do not believe to be the case), then it is a moot point. If he does exist, and actually operates by the rules of basic reasoning, then I'll go to heaven if I'm a good person, and to hell if not. If he operates by crazy religious reasoning, then I'd rather go to hell than get to heaven on what amounts to little more than a goddamn technicality.

I think we have to acknowledge the fact that God doesn't love everyone to the same degree. It'll be like saying I'm not real because I won't talk to you. Not true.
Another logical fallacy. You can't say God loves us all, created love in fact, and is a being of INFINITE love, then go on to say he loves you more because you happen to be a part of the religion that prays to him juuuuust right.
