Thing is, this isn't a strawman fallacy here. People say that s**t ALL THE TIME. People DO believe that fat people are just lazy. People DO believe that skinny people "take care of themselves" more than fat people. People DO believe that fat people are less deserving of respect and dignity just because of one number that tells them ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about them. Why else is the word "fat" so derogative? It's because we have LOADED that word with negative connotations, and so the minute you hear it, you already have a fabricated idea of what this person's appearence and personality, just based on one word. The minute you think of the word "overweight" you think ONLY this:

Overweight

when there are PLENTY of people who look like this:

Overweight 1

Overweight 2

But of course, we're just being paranoid because we don't want to accept the fact that any fat is bad, when in actuality, we're just tired of people who don't know us attributing characteristics that don't even apply to us.

If people are aware there are categories of body size, it follows logically that they're aware that those size markers are composed of different body types. You're creating an invisible opposition to an argument you know that you can easily debunk. You are creating a strawman.
Furthermore, I for one am not arguing that all body fat is bad, as I have been repeatedly accused of. That's a total falsehood. I have only argued that excessive adiposity, i.e. being fat has negative health consequences. I am aware of the metabolic function that fat plays in the body's biochemistry. I don't need to be lectured on the pro-active roles of fat tissue. I'm siding with solid research and strong backing over conjectural arguments of an only semi-scientific nature.

And I'd still rather be mostly healthy, pretty chunky/technically "obese" and have a positive relationship with a variety of good and healthy food than be thin, neurotic about food, hate eating because I have to deny myself everything I like and only eat crappy stuff I hate, etc.

You can reserve the right not to be attracted to me, and to think that I am gross.

But people who don't like me because of my body size should not therefore get the right to force me to get on a starvation diet or kick me out of my job or harass me simply because I don't fit their definition of attractiveness (and there have been some initiatives to do things like this in the legislation). My health and my body is my business, and I don't want other people to be nosy and try and concern troll about my life.

Science does not say "all people should look and eat the same". Science does not even say that "everyone can be thin if they just do this magic thing."

The truth is that science is flawed and mostly preliminary because it is often hard to do empirical studies on human beings because of ethical reasons.

When we start oversimplifying the human body, problems are created. And we honestly do not know a TON about the way that the body works, simply what has been documented and what has specifically been studied in a sample group (which can be from one person to one million people, which can lead to skewed test results if small sample sizes are used).

I'm not saying that what we conventionally believe about weight and health is 100% wrong, but that it could stand to get more data and research into it, because a LOT of it is still "snake oil" bullshit that the diet and weight loss companies are capitalizing on (in fact, many of the weight loss studies are in fact financially paid for by said companies to promote their products, most of which do not work at all).

So this is much more complicated than simply cold hard science.

There is much money to be made in the arena of making people feel insecure and unattractive about themselves.

I

Right now, I'm far heavier than 140 pounds (I actually recently had a baby, and I also have issues with hormonal imbalances), but I am far more accomplished and loved and secure in my life than I ever was at a size 7.

But I still hate my body.

And I still think that my body is wrong.

And I still think that if I could only be a size 7, I would TRULY be happy.

And yet, I am deliriously happy now.

SO WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME?! Why can't I just accept what I am?

because your body is wrong, and you should hate it, and if you're fat and happy, I can only blame the ormonal imbalances, because you have no reason to be happy; you're fat.
You are, in fact worthless and unlovable ( your husband is probably ******** someone of normal human size) and the reason people push you so much is that they want you to lead a real life, not that of a fatty fatty two-by-four cant fit through the kitchen door. I think we should revoke fat people's right to vote, just as an incentive to be less disgusting. If that doesnt work, take their right to drive, make 'em walk a little.
if you were a size 7, it wouldnt guarantee happiness, but it would bring you at least the possibility of being happy, since disgusting obese pigs dont have the ability ( or the right) to be happy or enjoy their lives in general. If we cant shame them into thinness, and we cant force them on a treadmill by inextricably linking fat to happiness, we need to push further and have them off themselves, remove their disgustingly obese DNA from the gene pool ( think about that the next time you use your old " Its hormones!" excuse to be a fat ********).

TLDR: y'all niggaz postin in a troll thread, Let this s**t get locked
