We don't have the luxury that some of the rest of you do. We don't have what video gamers have, or sci fi fans have, or even what anime fans have. Games are made for gamers, science fiction for science fiction fans, and anime for anime fans. What do we have? Something that was made for everyone, the entire family. So the most we can do if we want something to call our own is to make it for ourselves. and make ourselves we do. From this coming together of people eager to create for a fandom that has no one else to turn to, we have amassed a pretty amazing group of talented people from all over the world.
In the result we have literature, web comics, animations, art, sculpture, music, puppets, costumes, ect. Wether a fandom is forced to make it's own content or it is being handed down content the existence of porn and any meaning behind it stays exactly the same. Now if you want to continue to go under the delusion that somehow the porn somehow still means something different, feel free. I can't change the opinions of the willfully ignorant.
I will say though, so what if furry content has porn and non porn categories. It sound to me like you're pretty obsessed with the porn. Can't you see the fandom has what every other fandom has? A general non sexual side, and then a sexual side it. Stop acting like we're special because we're not.
Sounds like someone's an anime fan, getting a tad bit defensive are we? If I may point something out, I've been to fur cons and I've been to anime cons. Why should furs be lumped as a fetish or sexual fandom when you see more tits in an anime con than you see in any furry convention? I mean seriously, breasts everywhere. It's a ***** wet dream, all these underage girls running around showing off their melons. Then when you walk into the dealer's den or the artist's alley. Boobs! Everywhere! Hey if you want to call my fandom a fetish fandom fair is only fair. The Anime fandom is definitely a fetish fandom, for boobs and men who look like women.
Look at the anime itself. I swear so many of you must have a thing for women with back-problems. It's rather disgusting how women are sexualized, and men are raped of their masculinity. Don't get me started on the websites. Girls bickering over who owns what characters, and then you have your crazies claiming to have the souls of actual anime characters and having sex with them in the astral plain. I could have fun with this all day. It's the same thing you are doing to furries with your supposed views, only directed at someone else. At least the furry fandom has few if any sexual fetish's exclusive to the fandom. And our conventions for the most part don't advertise tits everywhere. In all seriousness, the furry fandom just like any other fandom has it's share of clean, material. It's rather easy to find but if all you do is focus on the porn that's all you are going to see. Little ole me here? I'm asexual. I know the porn is there. I don't deny it. I don't deny there are fetish's in the fandom. I don't look at the stuff. The fandom is a hobby for me, not a fetish.
But when you enter a fandom you choose what it is for you, and it can be just a hobby or it can be a fetish. If some people chose to make a fetish out of it, it doesn't change the core of what the entire thing is about. It's a fan-club for people who like anthro animal themes in different media and no amount of ranting and inane raving on your part is going to make anything other than what it is. If makes you sleep better at night calling our fandom sick because you have some skewered view of it, be my guest. It's not like the other fandoms out there are innocent of the very things many people accuse furries of being or having.
