Return of the King proved that a fantasy movie can sweep the Oscars. It's by far the best of the trilogy
I only wish Viggo got a nod at Best Actor as Aragorn

Hard to choose! I have moments I love in all three, making it hard to choose one over the other...

They all have their moments, but I'm not such a big fan of the war scenes, especially the Battle of the Pelennor Fields and at the Black Gate. Those are just... well, if I want to watch a war movie, I watch Saving Private Ryan. If I want to watch a Middle-Earth movie, I watch The Fellowship of the Ring.

I loved the scene in the two towers where the Ents go to war. Releasing the river being my favorite part. The chatter between Gimli and Legolas was pretty funny.

But I love the speech Aragorn gives at the Black Gate, So I think the third is my favorite?
I always skipped through the Sam and Frodo scenes.

Fellowship. It's what got me interested in LotR. Before the movies I had no clue what it was, aside from the book covers I saw in my elementary school library (which I never read the titles of since I was too busy staring at the 80's fantasy art covers and think it looked cheesy).
I have so much love for LotR now and the world Tolkien created. heart
