Evolution is neither fact, nor fiction. Creationism is neither fact, nor fiction.

Both evolution and creationism are based upon theories, which are based upon the evidence in which both sides have gathered for their arguments. In a way, neither can ever be proven fact or fiction either way. Even if scientists came out one day and announced that evolution was 100% fact, there would still be millions of people who would disagree and continue to follow creationism. It would be no different in reverse, rendering both sides unable to reach a definite conclusion.

I would write more, but I'm awfully tired... xd

Creationism is hardly a theory.

The difference here is that evolution, as a theory, could be disproven with sufficient evidence.

I disagree. I'm an Atheist, so naturally I sway more toward evolution, but Creationists use science to try and prove their beliefs. In ways, it is indeed a theory - though I admit, not a very plausible one.

Edit: I'm not saying evolution cannot be disproven, simply that even if it was, people would still regard it as a theory due to their personal beliefs. Yes?

Do you even know what a scientific theory is? Creationism isn't a theory, it isn't even a hypothesis. It isn't anything, has no evidence and can never be made fasifiable because it isn't testible.

It isn't science.

Don't they teach anything in these schools?
I was familiar with this one well before junior high.

They teach the domains of functions in elementary school? xd

Spoiler: I was home schooled for a time. Also, I had access to certain courses that would have exposed me to it prior to junior high regardless of curriculum. One of them explicitly covered naive set theory. biggrin

The problem, I think, arrives when we realize one thing: how many of us use set theory notation regularly in our post-high school lives? It may be mind-boggling in its simplicity (at least, to many who study it), but unfortunately, many people do not retain the information garnered from set theory after a few years.

You do when you're painstakingly trying to pass correspondence courses so you can get back into university ^^'

I major in anthropology, which practically never uses set theory, so knowledge of that slipped through the cracks of my brain. xd It all depends on what courses you're taking, the application of set theory, etc.

In his defense, I'm about to be a senior in high school and I've never seen it before. And I do pay attention in math...

I didn't see it until discrete math in my sophomore year of undergrad...

Tragically. =/

Though I tend to find that information once learned tends to manifest in some form or another, even if it is not consciously remembered. And then there's the universal application of many of the concepts. Even if I don't use set theory everyday, I find myself using stats in everyday life.

Though that may just make me lazy.
Well, There is a lot of EVIDENCE for Evolution. And NO EVIDENCE for creationism. NONE AT ALL!

So if you weren't an idiot, you would believe in evolution. I am not saying that Christians are stupid (although Christianity to me is a dumb, as well as all the other religions), but believing in creationism is. NO EXCEPTIONS!

You mean physical evidence for evolution? That can be arranged.

Well, being that Evolution has a hell of a lot more evidence than Creation, I'm going to side with Evolution.

And here I was considering it more strongly on the quality of the evidence for it.
I don't much consentrate or care about how it began or how it will end. I mainly focus on the now and what exists at this moment.

EDIT: I would have liked to at least see a "Other" option in the poll. :/

What, you want to see some speciation? That can be arranged.

If you do not know where you come from or where you go, how do you know where you are?

If you paid attention to the history of this thread, for example, you would know that the OP isn't listening, it's always been a shitty poll, and you're pretty much wasting your breath.
I believe that humans evolved from ape-like creatures. I believe this because of the overwhelming proof that researchers have gathered. The story about adam and eve was created to attempt to answer the eons-old question of "where did we come from?" back in more primitive times. Most religions have such stories to explain "the unknown."
