This is a desert iguana. Both inhabit the taxonomic family of Iguanidae, although they occupy two different genera. Does that mean one is not an iguana?

EDIT: To wit, you seem confused over taxonomic ranks. We occupy the superfamily Hominoidea, which includes gibbons, gorillas, chimpanzees, orangutans and other apes. Any animal thus classified would qualify as an ape, given taxonomic criteria.

Nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnno, because "APE" is the set to which all humans and other apes (chimps, gorillas, orangutans) belong. Just because we conventionally lump those other primates under the heading "ape" doesn't mean humans are not apes like OS X isn't Apple.
