OK. I'll break this down into some BASIC sections for you guys. I am an evolutionist, please do not be offended. If you are, please tell me why and we can discuss, OK? Good...
I. Big Bang
Alright, the Big Bang and evolution have very little to do with one another. Still, I think I should post why I beleive what I beleive. And how it relates to religion.
We go back into the history of the universe. Just, for about 1 minute, leave any previous beleifs behind. We there? Good. Near the beginning of time, there were quarks just zig-zagging everywhere. Eventually, the strong and weak nuclear forces were born, causing these quarks to form into atoms. Note that quarks were formed VERY close to the beginning of time, but not AT the EXACT MOMENT time began. We have no clue what happened then. We really don't. For all we know, God could have played a major role in this. Hooray for God! I guess... So, you can beleive God created the universe, and allowed it to shape itself, much like a human.
II. Earth is HERE, yo.
Basically, now that the universe is here, the Earth is here. Alright. Our planet now has a place on the map. Yay.
When the Earth was created, water was enabled to be formed. When water was formed, life could happen. I'm unclear about the details, but I think there were some scientists who proved that life could have come from a storm. So, now we've got life. w00t.
III. Multi-celled creatures.
Event the Bible says it. Fish came first. Hoorah for fishies! Let us pray the dolphins won't start singing (I don't like how it sounds). It is constant in evolution as well. Fish (animals that live in the water) came first. Then, animals. So, now we've got some animals.
Even the Bible says humans came last, right?
The Bible also says that a day is like a 1000 days in the eye of the Lord, right?
See where I'm going with this?
Just because the Bible says things like this happened in 7 days, does not mean it happened in 7 days EXACTLY. It could have been 7 years, months, millenia, or even billion years. There probably was some being who created us, I'll admit to that. There are too many unexplained things to say there isn't a God. However, who's to say he didn't create us and let us do things at our own pace?
IV. One thing said that sort of annoys me...
Quote:
I've seen lots of monkeys, but none turned into men.
Evolution was a process that took MANY MANY years. OF COURSE none of it would have happened in your lifetime.
