No science teacher who had studied evolution would ever ask that. We did not evolve from monkeys.
The thoery of evolution does not care where life came from. That would be abiogenesis.
Please stop throwing up the ******** straw man fallacies.

Stop flaming; He did ask that. It was my 8th grade teacher. I havent been in school in forever. It was an honest question. scream

That's not flaming. He's being rude, yes, but not flaming.

Evolution is a fact. Before anyone goes off on me about monkeys not turning into humans, we had a monkey-like ancestor, not an actually monkey. That is why monkeys do not turn into humans.

I completely believe in evolution. In my opinion the bible is a fictional story written to instill morals.

Seriously, people babble about how God made our perfect world and stuff. (Oh, and don't give me nonsense about how man released evil upon the world by eating that apple: It doesn't explain a**l and/or uro-genital parasitism)

Parasites in the "apple", combined with the fact that God did not choose to make Adam with a perfect immune system.

Yes, it's a stretch. Yes, it's ridiculous. Yes, it's hand-waving.

Must be sarcasm.

The sea cucumbers must have gotten their hands...erm...knobs on an apple too!

I bet it is those damn sea cucumbers fault that this world is crap!!!! scream

Actually, that's quite possible. I mean, the snake was only cursed with crawling on its stomach for deceiving Adam and Eve.
I can't imagine what crime gets punished by bowel-eating fish, then.

Maybe Sea Cucumbers were originally Tentacle Monsters before the SatanoScienos started making things evolve in order to prove their evil theories about the Big Bang?
am i the only one whos curious about using the eucharist to clone jesus, forcing a second coming of chirst?
i'm sure some insane protesants are working on that one....
just imagine clone jesus, his blood is of wine and his body of bread, he could call himself bread man....winos would flock to be his disciples all they would ask for in return is a chance to nibble his holy body ...
“Evoloution: Fact Or Fiction “

Neither, Evolution is a theory. People tend to forget that and try to prove/disprove it.
Annoyed Illiterate Dragon, please go back and read some of the thread. Evolution is a fact.
Ah the rude, elitist greetings of the Gaian community. How I've missed you.

I actually only posted because my eyes glanced at this thread and the thought came to mind, if you check my profile it has been a very long time since I've posted on here. I'm on a much more civil and respectful forum now that has banned religious and political discussion to keep the peace.

There was a community petition to bring them back so I posted a link here as a example of why it is a bad idea, the endless flame wars produced by this forum made a good example.

Bye bye then.

Bye bye then.

You can thank me for correcting your misconceptions on the nature of science at any time.
I don't understand why people spend so much time arguing about whether or not evolution is real. Why does it matter how we got here? What are we going to do about it if we figure it out? Nothing! The point is that we're here now, and we need to make the best of that.
I'm sure evolution is completely unimportant. After all, nobody ever asks "how did we get here?"
Myeh, some do. It's probably common with little kids.

Not to sound like Appeal to Authority is a valid argument (rather than turning the tables on such a fallacious rebuttal as you've presented), but it's a common theme with some of the greatest minds in history.
Evolution also tells us why disease causing germs are becoming resistant to antibiotics, why pests become resistant to pesticides, why we suddenly have a new species of mosquito in a subway tunnel, why finches on the Galapagos are all so similar yet very different, and why people and monkeys both have hands, among other more technical things.
