no the world will not end

The freakin world will not end on stupid 21/12 its so dumb how people obsess over s**t like this. The bible clearly states that No may shall know the end of time, ONLY GOD KNOWS!! So the people who do believe in this crap can go jump off cliffs....

As I Christian I will now state to you that you are being judgmental saying they should jump off cliffs. Remember those who are judgmental are no better than those they judge. You should know this is from 1st John I believe.
Y2k = fail.

so will this. It needs no damn proof.

i dont think that it will happen but i will keep my mind open to the idea of it just in case...

even though the Mayans predicted a lot of things, it is us people who puts their prediction and makes sense of it in our lives..

there is no proof that the Mayans are correct, but then again there is no proof they are not.

the world will end one day some day but i really don't think it will be yr 2012...

The world will not end in 2012. I will point and laugh at the people still cowering in fear 5 minutes after it's gone midnight.
The Mayans had a dual view on the world ending... or at least people have interpreted it as such.

One is that that our world and/or humanity will end.

Another view is that it marks the end of the current Age and the birth of a new awakening of the consciousness in humanity. The Mayans predicted their demise as marking the end of the previous Age, and the birth of the one that we are currently in.

As to whether it ends or not... I think it doesn't really matter. The more important is to live full lives now, I guess.
i will not watch the movie....okay maybe i will on the internets just for the lols
The mayans didn't believe in the end of time. The "Golden Age" will begin. There's an entire story about how they predicted that the sun will move between the Milky way and some other area in the sky, right in the heart of an area called the "tree of life" or tree of whatever it was called. Then, everything shall be united spiritually, and humans will move away from materialistic things, to become more in tune with nature.

At least, I've been freaking over 2012, and reading that everywhere I go has given me piece of mind.

However, it does not mean that nothing will happen to /change/ our world. We are supposed to collide with something big, and we'll probably lose 2/3 of our population. However, the world has lived through over 150,000 "disasters", and the last six, I read, happened while humans were on the planet. We obviously will survive whatever the hell happens, and it's obvious that if nothing happens, we will all appreciate a little more what we could have lost.

Whew. xD

Marks the ending of the Mayan Long Count Calendar, and us entering into a new age.

The rumors of the world ending is nothing but a bunch of nonsense.

Why did you say it's not going to end and then ask us?
If you're so certain I don't think you need our opinions.

Anyway, the end of the world is based on a predicition by the Mayan's (an ancient civilisation) they had a calendar and they decided to predict a doomsday on 2012. Apparently every prediction the Mayan's have ever put in that calendar has actually happened, although I'm very sure that no-one can put a date on the end of the world.
i'm doing this to see what gaia has to say

even if it does happen one of the events of the predicted end of the world already happened in 1998(when the sun on winter solstice overlapped the galactic center).

So even if it does happen it's not likely to happen in the winter of 2012, but between the years 2012-2032.

And even then, please don't post religous explanations into a sub-forum for science and technology. It's pointless, theres no real proof that religion can give to this topic.
hey they moved my topic
The Mayans never predicted that the world would end. The Calander stoped. The reason is if u look at my point of veiw they stop the calander cause they kown that they wouldn't be around that long or the dissapered before they could add more to the calader! If u think it would end 2012 U jump of building 2012 if u don't belive me!

Well, that doesn't mean that it won't happen, and even then, it wasn't a prediction of the end of the world more of an idea people came up with. Even if it does happen it probably won't happen in 2012 (check my earlier post) and secondly, they said it would be a great change, that doesn't mean the world will end.
