My school said that too. But if you got into class before the teacher and discreetly stowed it away in a cupboard or under a desk no one was the wiser. Teehee...that was the extent of my rule breaking... emo
in my school i just got out of i wasent alous to carry around a backpack and i hated the stupid dress code i got you couldnt show anything to revealing but wtf sometimes i wore a shirt that just showed my arms and i wore a strapless bra with it and they still made me put a shirt over it said it was innapropriate i personally think schools have no right to tell us stupid rules like u cant have cellphones or mp3s or ipods in school thats really dumb yeah like what is so bad about cellphones and mp3s and ipods and cameras like gosh its not harmful
The year after I left high school is when they outlawed book bags. They really took it to the extreme too. Not a "your back pack must be in your locker rule", a "no backpacks on school grounds". The only exception being sports players dufflebags containing their game or practice gear. I guess they made that rule because basically the freshman my senior year got caught with too many drugs and weapons.
From this year onwards, my school is locking the bathrooms during classes, and they don't open them except at lunch.
We can't listen to music during study classes anymore either, which is annoying.
I just learned that the high school I went to no longer allows any kind of sandals. Even ones with backs.

-"Chains on pants are not part of a healthly learning enviroment."

-NO, and I repeat NO UGLY MONSTER MAKEUP.(Im looking at you, you bold goths) <---lol my words, and I agree with the school.

-"spongebob shoe laces have been determined to be gang related and therefore not permitted" LOL seriously ******** fruity gangs up here in Canada.

HAHAHA what the hell to the SpongeBob shoe laces!?

Well, my school's rules aren't extremely horrifying or ridiculous compared to the rules I've read here. I can't believe there are such schools with rules like these (but I see they're private schools; I attend a public school).

I AM DAMN SERIOUS. I couldn't even fathom the absolute retardation of the members of that dangerous spongebob shoe lace gang. Seriously wtf?

Your school sounds like it needs a swift smack in the bum and a principle with a backbone.
At my skool. i cant be a teachers assistant unless u wear a uniform- which is illegal to make us do anyway because i go to public skool.
well im going to grade 11 on tuesday just makes me wonder what kind of rules they will have im not rude but if i find any of these stupid rules are done in my school i will talk back and complain like im carrying my backpack i dont care what the hell anyone says i know its stupid but i dont know how to use my lock for my locker i can never get them open and now that i found out i cant even get my own lock they supply you with one that pisses me off and that will be the day a teacher tells me i cant use the washroom id walk right out and go because teachers have no right to say you cant go to the bathroom
some of the ones from my old school.

only black and brown shoes allowed
no heels
no earrings, not even studs
no 'un-natural' hair colours
no scarfs that are not uniform colours
no jewellery, not even watches

It's not illegal for a public school to enforce a uniform. A district close to me started a uniform code for all students because of there being so many dress code issues. Now they don't even get to wear shorts ever. It's all polos, khaki or black skirts/slacks, and black/brown shoes. Gym is the only time you get to wear shorts and even then they have to reach the knees. It's really reasonable considering the things I have seen people show up in. And a lot of the parents didn't object either. One was quoted as saying, "These kids will be entering the work force very soon and dress codes like this are common at good jobs, it will just get them more prepared for what to expect"
