Welcome to Gaia! ::

no chewing gum
no tank tops (now i can!)
no hats
no cell phones
Let's see... I go to a private school and dress code is:

- School's uniform shirt OR a school sport team's shirt but only if it's the day of a game.
- Uniform shorts or pants with a belt.
- Alternate uniform: Girl's dress purchased from our uniform supplier or boy's aloha shirt (aka hawaiian shirt) and long pants.
- No dying your hair outside the natural colors (DX so not fair!)
- Nails can be painted as long as the color is pastel or light (no dark or bright colors)

And... here's a few of our weirder rules:

- No sitting alone at lunch
- If you go to a dance you cannot leave them gym until 1 hour after the doors close (wth? I mean, seriously, it's like they hold us prisoner)
- No using the school computers to go on myspace, gaia, or any other gaming or messaging websites. (this really sucks. especially if you're done with all your homework and have nothing else to do)
- All students must complete 4 years of PE, one quarter of religion class per year, one year of health during 9 or 10th grade, 1 semester of art, 1 semester of performing arts, every year you must participate in 2 choir performances unless you have a family emergency or you're really sick, and by the time you graduate you need to know how to swim. o_O It's like they want us to be perfect at EVERYTHING!

We weren't allowed to wear sweatpants or flip-flops (thongs).

We could wear this shoe:http://www.elmshoes.com/hugeview/ckarksgleamblk.jpg

but not this one: http://veapparel.com/img/492f34315a633557673335544c2e5f534c3136305f.jpg
That one is a "soccer sandal" while the other is more formal I guess?

We had loads of other stupid rules, to many to list
No snowball fights. Seriously, its not like we're little elementary school kids that will cry if we get hit. I guess my school is scared that a parent might sue the school.

Other than that, we're pretty much aloud to do anything else..
at my school you can only use the bathroom b4 school gonk
the no backpack rule
we arent allowed to carry backpacks from class to class or purses for that matter
so basically everybodys arms are falling off cause they have to carry 3 books per class
*sigh*
now we r starting the "Bring Back the Backpack" petition
In my Jr. High, you couldn't wear solid colored T-shirts. Like a shirt with nothing on it. Apparently, those are gang shirts. Any color, not just the colors of local gangs. If i wanted to wear a solid green shirt, too bad for me.
Also, for about a week they wouldn't let us hang out in groups of more than three people. Apparently, that's intimidating. I really don't get it.

Other than that, most rules made sense.

I don't get why people complain about no cell phones/MP3 players or no using the computer for Myspace or no gum. Honestly, those make sense. Why do you need to call your friends during class? School is for learning not listening to music or browsing the internets. Besides, the school doesn't want to be held responsible if idiots lose or get their stuff stolen from them. Gum, I can understand why people want to chew during school, but the school doesn't want their floor covered in it.
No allowing to leave any room to use the bathroom except at lunch time.
No cell phones before and after school in the buildings.
No going to the library except during 4th period.

- Mialkumis I would cry if I was in my school. I thought I had a strict school. It used to be you have to take band or choir by the end of high school but now it's band, choir, or art thank God.
I can't do anything on stage at all without crying uncontrollably..I remember what happened in 8th grade and it's making me tear up thinking about it.
MY SCHOOL DOESNT LET US HOLD WOOD STICKS xp xp xp xp xp xp xp xp xp NINJA ninja ninja ninja ninja
hm,
my old school they'd consider groups of 4 or more gangs -_- what idiots

my new school the gang/solid color shirt rule applies
and
no eating outside of the cafeteria

other than that nothing really 4laugh
Theres many in my school but i dont remember many now except one. Like in many schools we are allowed to wear blue polo shirts in the summer. You must wear that alone or with a blazer. Well in england summer isnt exactly the summer we all imagine sweatdrop . It rains alot of the time, And the school blazers arent water proof. So the alternative would be wearing a coat from home. But if youre going to wear one then you must wear it with a blazer. So if its raining = Poloshirt a blazer and a outdoor coat. But the blazers look stupid so most just dont wear one, but thats too cold and we'll get wet. Even if we do wear the blazer with the polo shirt itll be wet for the next day and we'll get in troubl for not having one.. its ridiculos. sweatdrop

Also the other day i was in a barbers waiting to get my hair cut. And there was this guy in there and it was his turn. So the barber was like. "What would you like"
And the kid was like "Id like a 2" (for those of you who know what that is) But the barber was like "theres no point in cutting your hair at a 2 cos its not gonna take of much hair"
But the boy was like "No no i must have 2 if i get a 1 i will be expelled from school" gonk
Then everyone in the shop was like WTF. burning_eyes
Im not sure of the exact rule but... it sounds stupid. its not letting people be individuals, if someone wants to be bald then so be it.
Nothing too horrible,
All shoulder straps must be three inches wide, no PDA and no cell phones on during class times. Not even in the halls.

Yesterday the twig was brown and bare; To-day the glint of green is there; Tomorrow will be leaflets spare;

I went to Catholic Grade and High Schools, so I was pretty much used to the rules that were already in place.

However in High School during my junior and senior years, we were not allowed to wear team apparel. *Sports Jerseys, Jackets, T-Shirts, etc* unless they were the school's team apparel. When I found about this rule, I cried and was angry because I couldnt wear my favorite player's jersey, my favorite hat and even my favorite sports jacket. At the time I couldnt afford to buy a new jacket so at times all I wore to school was my uniform and nothing else....

What made it worse is that you had to be on a sports team or on the cheerleading squad to get the apparel. Which sucked MAJOR a** because I wasn't on any sports team.

Other than the no sports team apparel rules... everything else made sense. There were boys who complained about the "clean shaven rules" but that's understandable, because most businesses require that people shave their facial hair.

I know no thing so wondrous fair; No miracle so strangely rare; I wonder what will next be there!
