Don't be so hard on yourself. The bible says that in Gods eyes everyone is perfect. I have a retainer and I read a lot, some people would say im not perfect and im nerdy, but i am comfortable being who I am at the moment and see no valid reason to change.

It also says that God thinks its okay to own slaves.

Ok, first of all biblical slaves are different from the common day slave and the African American slaves back in the 1800's.

How figure? Slaves are slaves no matter what context you use.

I think the context is that you fulfill your role no matter what position you're in, even if you're a slave. A slave's master also has the obligation to treat the slaves properly.

I don't know of any master treating slaves right..

Slaves in biblical times were only slaves until they paid back their debt and then they where allowed free or they could choose to forever serve their master. It is not like slavery today where one is forced to be a slave because of superiority or a take over etc..

Even if that was true 2000 years ago spoken word is FAR more accurate than it is today(most all historians believe this) so if there weren't any writings until 100 years later it would still be considered valid.

It is a logical fallacy to assume something false for the sole reason that it has never been proven otherwise.

So is saying that since it hasn't been proven false it is therefore true.

Anyone that actually bothers to argue the point of whether God exists over the internet needs to stop now and hit themselves over the head with a crowbar.

A few things:
1. God can neither be proven nor disproven by scientific (physical) means due to the fact that he exists outside of the realm of science.
2. The Bible has been used countless times to disprove itself, however science has also been used to disprove itself. Also due to the fact that science is forever changing the "facts" of today could easily become the "myths" of tomorrow, thus making science faliable.
3. A majority of the stories in the Bible are used as metaphors for how to live a decent/respectable life.
4. War is not caused by religion. War is caused by the human flaws that reside in all of us; greed, envy, immorality, etc., etc. And to blame anything other than human faults is an illogical fallacy.

I never said it was pointless. I was just commenting on something that seems to never change. What I think is pointless is that this "debate" has been nothing more than atheist saying that god cant be proven and christians saying that the former in turn can also not be proven. I would like to hear from other points of view, but I guess the points of this argument have been fully exhausted by both sides.
