I'm Christian?

You're claiming there to be signs of god all around us.
That's an insinuation of your belief in him.

There are all kinds of mystics and believers who do not proclaim Christianity.

The OP is asking for proof of god.
This poster stated there is proof all around us.
Insinuating a belief in god.
If you believe in god, you're a Christian or a Jew or a Muslim in my opinion.
Your definition obviously differs.
So again, MY OPINION.

Fixed. Also, God should be capitalized. Proper noun and all that.

This thread is obviously about the Christian god

HAHA. You are aware that all three faiths follow God, right? No? Well there you go. Tell mommy you learned somethin' new today, sport.

This. Also, Toby, the reason the Hebrew Bible was kept in the Xian Bible was for cultural reasons. Seriously. Take a ******** religion course or two, it'd help you out TREMENDOUSLY.

I know why it was kept.
It was an example.
Take your condescending bullshit elsewhere.
She's asking why Jesus appears in Jewish history.
Using this as an example of him existing outside of Christianity.
Judaism and Christianity nearly go hand in hand.
That's why he appears in Jewish history.
Maybe read the whole damn debate she and I were having before attacking blindly.

You did know what it was kept but asked me anyway? Is that a kind of disingenuos way to debate?

I don't get it.

Obviously...
The prophecy of Christ begins in the Old Testament..JEWISH HISTORY.
Tales of Jesus' father exist in the Old Testament...JEWISH HISTORY.
So of course Jesus is going to appear in Jewish history.
It was the root of Christianity.

Amen to that.
Which is why we should do away with the Bible and just use common sense and not let an ancient book dictate what we should believe and how we should live our lives.

Just because you and I cannot read Hebrew, aramaic and Greek doesn't mean that someone cannot read it, my dear Tobias.

Such teeth! L2P, dude, L2P.

Oh, also, I'm pretty certain there would be Roman accounts of a Christ figure, since they viewed him as a revolutionary and all that.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Historicity_of_Jesus

Fun fun, do read.

And I can provide a link to refute it.
Now who's right in this matter?

I would have to say that one should go with the least biased source, the one with no agenda when there are more than one sources to be offered. I am not saying that No Beliefs hasn't any veracity. However I think they do discount information that they would think good enough for the Julio Claudius Roman family.

As this thread is OBVIOUSLY dedicated to.
So OBVIOUSLY when I say GOD, I am referring to the CHRISTIAN GOD.
Silly me for thinking you people could assume this.

Bible records the numerous ways in which Jesus fulfilled old covenant prophecy. We accept them but they do not accept us. That is one reason we should be surprised that a Jewish historian records the troublesome rabbi who claimed he was YHVH and had crowds following him town to town.

Well, like you always say, assume makes an a** out of . . . etc. You frequently decry assumption making. Instead of assuming how about we just use friendly words to get a handle on our discussion material?

I believe that if someone comes around and states they believe in signs of God are the reasons people believe that w ought not to assume that person is a Christian.

An educated Muslim would. Such a schism, however, could occur with anyone of the faith who is uneducated. Case en point, how many Xians think that Muslims follow a different god.

The undeniable truth of it is, they follow One god. It's all in the details that things get muddy.

They do know our link to Abraham, yes. T'is a tricky question. If you ask some Christians they will tell you that Allah is not "our God." So it would rather depend upon the level of fundamentalism and their general educational level.

However, I think you have introduced a red herring.

There are indeed some strange offshoots from the Church since the protestant revolt. By far, the widest majority of Christians are Trinitarians and all believe that Jesus is Lord.

I think it is the Jehovah's Witness who think Jesus is the Archangel Michael who came as a herald or prophet. But in strict theological terms, JW are neo-Arians, not Christians.

But this is another red herring.

Red Herring, Blue Mackerel.
So what, it's a debate.
It's a completely valid point.
