Hello everyone and mostly Gundam fans out there, despite this being a recurring topic amongst Gundam fans in every corner of mecha forum out there, apparently Mecha and or Gundam is one of the very rarely discussed topics on the A/M/C. Though I wont get into semantics on that absurdity that a Gundam of all things can't even strive here on a Anime/Manga/Comics thread let alone can't stay it's welcome but I digress. Odds are this thread will end up being quickly canned and tossed aside to either the Chatterbox or the Recycle bin left to die anyway.
But back on topic, with the rise of Gundam Build Fighters and that show easily becoming one of my favorite installments of the franchise and I thinks it's about high time to rehash this list again on what I think are the top 10 most powerful Gundams to date.
I'm basing this list solely on Gundam builds, specific traits, weapons, power plants, features and what not. Let's get started and be prepared for a wall of text.
No. 10
ORB-01 Akatsuki Gundam
When people think of Gundam Seed Destiny, a lot of the first thoughts that come to mind are either Kira Jesus Yamato -_-, The Strike Freedom's Hi-Nu beam spamming, Shinn's failed character development, or the Destiny Wings of Light among tons of recycled animation, and Stephanie Byer's level of writing. But amongst the tons of poorly explained MS design, one machine that exceptionally stood out yet ironically overshadowed by the titular machines, boasted the most effectiveness in it's overall design that is the ORB-01 Akatsuki Gundam.
What makes this Gundam truly special is that while it blatantly rips off the concept of the Hyaku Shiki and the Strike Gundam in particular unlike the Strikes less inspired spiritual successors the Impulse and the Destiny, the Akatsuki seems to make the most practical use of the multi purpose machine concept. With it's ultra defensive anti-beam particle reflective coating the Yata no Kagami system boasts it's defense to levels of broken with It's most notable achievement taking a Taunhausser like a beast. While the Oowashi sky pack is utterly limited to being an atmospheric Aile Striker pack, the Shiranui pack with the DRAGOON system perfectly achieves what the Strike Freedom and the Legend failed to do as beam spammer, provide multi range attacking capability while retaining overall defensive capability. While by itself the Akatsuki may seem to be a somewhat unremarkable machine it squeezes onto to top 10 because of it's overall effectiveness when combined with proper equipment.

XXXG-00W0 Wing Gundam Zero
Of course this iconic piece is going to make the top 10, but this time not heavily based on it's nostalgic value. Aside from Gundam Wing's trademark Gundamium alloy armor being one of the most broken plot convenience armor in mobile suit history outside of Kira's miraculous BS divine interventions of course, The Wing Zero has one of the most destructive weapons available, the iconic Twin Buster Riffle. Despite how you compare sizes of Colonies throughout different Gundam continuities, the Wing Zero still boasts colony class level destructive capabilities with that damn riffle. Aside from being as equally defensive the mobile suit is ridiculously light and agile with it's Neo Bird, mobile armor configuration. The existence of this machine boasts nothing but plot holes I know but it's capability is something noteworthy. However the most definitive feature that makes or breaks this machine overall is it's Zero system, very similar to the Universal Century's Biocomputer from F91 the Wing Zero possess a direct mental interface with the pilot. This interface can create a number of factors that can help improve the pilots combat capability as the systems advanced computations can act out a series of predetermined movements, essentially the pilot can artificially obtain Newtype like capabilities. However this system is somewhat flawed since most humans can't process the raw data interface into their brains and the machine cause the pilots to hallucinate. It's a machine that requires a special kind of understanding and mastery to utilize its dangerous features to it's fullest.

CB-0000G/C Reborns Gundam
The somewhat final antagonist of the Gundam 00 era (not counting the Awakening of the Trailblazers ELS since I don't count the aliens as intentional villains of any sort). The Reborns take the multi-purpose emphasis for mobile suits designs and make it its b***h. The Reborns is a culmination of all Celestial Beings technology, even though outfitted with a two pseudo solar furnaces A.K.A. GN Drive Tau's, the development of the false power plants exceeded to the point that they're almost on par with the originals. I still stand by my personal statement when I say GN drives are by far the most absurdly broken power plants within Gundam category. They possess an insane propulsion system, possess an nearly infinite source as long as it doesn't exceed the power output, and it can generate and manipulate GN particles into a vast array of functions and capabilities that most Gundams had to have sacrifice certain aspects to obtain. What's worse is that the Reborns is the only machine outside of the 00 line that possess a Twin Drive system. While lacking the same transcending Gundam category capability as the 00 Raiser, the two GN Drive Tau's provides a large sustainable power source that can easily power the countless array of weapons that the Reborns has armed itself to the teeth with. The second pseudo GN power source can also provide additional power and stability to the machine while maintaining special spec enhancement features like it's destructive mobile armor configuration the Reborns Cannon and Trans-Am. In short aside from it's insane broken capabilities of the GN Drive, the equipment and specs allow the Reborns to be insanely effective beam spammer, rush down, and Guncannon all in one.

Zabanya Gundam
So far this list has showcased beam spammers of the worst kind but here comes King Beam Spammer. The Zabanya has earned that place outright with it's spotlight stealing debut in Gundam 00 Awakening the Trailblazer, most of the mobile suit cutscenes contributed to that movie was largely contributed to the Zabanya and Harute fights in particular. While the Harute sorta fits into a mix bag considering that despite it's weapon armaments fitting for a war setting, the machine requirement and focus on a two pilot system and it's Marute system that specifically focus on Super Soldier pilots make it more of an exclusive system. The Zabanya however is as extremely effective with two Haro's as system support. Outside of it's insane beam spamming range, it's also armed to the teeth with missles, riffles, GN shield bits, riffle bits... along with the capabilities of it's GN Drive it's insane to what this machine can accomplish with a non quantum brainwave required system.

RX-0 Unicorn Gundam// Unicorn 02 Banshee.
It's a bit cheating I know, but dammit these two are exceptionally tied in this spot considering that these two are practically the same machine from the ground up with a different paint job.
The Universal Century has provided us with great mobile suit concepts throughout the years and did well promoting it's technological achievements in corresponding with New-types, but however one machine however may have brought that to a screeching halt. In response of the growing militarization of New-Types and Cyber New-types the UC project was made specifically to combat this potential threat. Designed to be a New-type killer both the Unicorn and the Unicorn 02 Banshee has fully incorporated it's Psycho-frame technology in order to specifically combat New-Types especially with it's NT-D or New-type Destroyer system. Much similar to the Biocomputer from F91 and Zero system from Gundam Wing, the Unicorn//Banshee both have a timed limiter disengage system that activates a anti new-type operating system in which not only the performance of the mobile suit is significantly enhanced but the mobile suit's psychoframe can scan and effect the psychowaves of new type pilots in it's vicinity and can even hijack psychommu weapons. The direct mental interface normally is too much for a normal human to pilot, henceforth why the very ironic requirement of a New-Type or Cyber New-Type pilot is necessary to pilot these machines. Outside of it's NT-D, both machines come equipped with a various array of powerful and effective weapons with Unicorns most notable weapon being the powerful Beam Magnum.

GN-0000 + GNR - 010 Gundam 00 Raiser.
Other than it's melee oriented predecessor the Gundam Exia, the 00 was a highly experimental unit being the first one to sport it's Twin Drive system. But due to a ton of instability issues the GNR 0 Raiser was developed to properly stabilize the Twin Drives of the 00, as a result the 00 Raiser became a machine that completely transcended "Gundam Category". Aside from it's outstanding propulsion and melee capability the 00 Raiser is outfitted with the Raiser system and Raiser Sword that can fires a large GN Beam saber with insane destructive range. However what makes the 00 Raiser unique is that the exposures to the purified GN particles invokes "Innovation", a pilot can in-fact evolve into a purebred innovator and with those abilities 00 Raisers full capabilities are unleased. It's two being the Trans AM Burst, which can interface and interfere with quantum brainwaves and the brainwaves of others, and Quantization which can dematerialize the 00 Raiser and materialize over distances akin to teleporting. Added with the melee oriented design of the suit the levels of broken OP'ness with it's power plant, and the transcending abilities of this suit makes the 00 Raiser a definite No. 5 on this list.

GNT-0000 Gundam 00 Qan(T).
This Gundam shined gloriously for a few minutes at the end of the 00 saga, the machine completely perfects all the shortcomings of it's predecessor the 00 Raiser and truly becomes a machine made for Innovators. Aside from it's perfected Quantum Teleportation System, it's Quantum Burst, and Bit control system not much more can be said about this machine. Essentially it built upon what made the 00 Raiser Dangerous and simply perfected the technology.

JDG-00X Devil Gundam.
More commonly known as the Dark Gundam from the infamous G Gundam, this Gundam was originally not designed for combat nor warfare this machine was tasked with the restoration of the earth. During it's entry onto the planet however it malfunctioned and with it's three great laws came to the conclusion that in order to restore the earth the species that devastate it to begin with, the humans must be expunged from the planet. What makes the Devil Gundam extremely dangerous is that it's a mesh of technorganic science possessing that was known as DG Cells. These DG Cells give the Devil Gundam the capability of self repair, self manipulation, self replication, and self evolution this machine alone is the very definition of the term monster.

GF13-017NJII God Gundam.
Otherwise more known as the Burning Gundam.
Now before I get backlash from tons of other Gundam fans let me be clear with something about the contents of G Gundam. What makes G Gundam relatively unique among other Gundam franchises is that it's only the series that promotes Gundams as Super Robots and not really conventional real robots, and that difference alone is key. As Gundam fan Wackymodder84 once said about Real Robot vs Super Robot a fine example is God Finger vs Destiny Gundam's Shinn Finger. In all aspects the God Gundam will always go right through the Destiny's hand simply because Super Robot logic is often loads of nonsensical amounts of BS that really never has to make any pseudo logical sense. Even amongst the Super Robots in G Gundam it's obvious that God Gundam is both it's Alpha and Omega in that series simply because laws of the protagonist. It's physically the only Gundam that was capable to defeating the Devil Gundam on more than one occasion. Simply because of it's OG Super Robot status the amount of it's power and BS is immeasurable, but there is one other.

System ∀-99 ∀ Gundam (Turn A Gundam).
Despite it's rather derpy design look in almost any well versed top 10 Gundam lists and this machine will always reign supreme. If you haven't noticed why it's very simple. It has Nanoskin armor, it's I-Field can survive a nuclear explosion, it can regenerate, teleport and thensome, it can even warp beams directly into cockpits and kill pilots. Including it's trademark Moonlight Butterfly which while looking pretty vibrant to some has the capability of bringing about the second coming of the dark ages. The fact that it's nanomachines EATS technology quickly makes the most scary and perhaps powerful Gundam on this list.
I really want more fans of this series to discuss more on what you think is your top 10 favorite Gundams or 10 most powerful Gundams.
