I know it was brought up before this post, but i think trust is a big issue, and not only that, it's misleading about how you would present yourself in a real life situation- Say you eventually meet that person, or even previously associate with the other participant in real life. I don't think it can be argued that cybering and physical sex are two different things, but wouldn't you venture to guess on a relationship in which you've been included as a partner in a vaguely sexual and immensely taboo act? And, first to satisfy the ever present point, it can't be argued that maybe three out of ten cyber-intimacy participants are just people exploring their own sexually and, to put it bluntly, "get their rocks off" with someone else, randomly or by selection (and whatever that particular selection be based on, but it really makes no difference one or the other, that is to say, "those without malcontent" ) are incredibly less spoken for than the run of the mill lonely person who's got huge social paralysis and a horrible case of acne, and runs around toting these things in real life and shoving it in people's faces as actually intimate encounters with a fair amount of meaning. Again, not saying it never means anything, i'm only pointing out the image people have come to represent Cybering as.

And while there's always two sides to every story, it's maybe two to a thousand in this case that some drama addicted facerolling socially inept and underconfident (or perhaps irritatingly optimistic, loudspoken or boisterous respectively and consecutively,) teenager, possibly with ridiculously albino flesh or a debilitating skin condition, (also for mention the OBESE.) are the sort that acquaintances, friends, or family members come into knowledge of the act of "Cybering."

I guess you could excuse it as a sexual act, and as we all know, the only weird sex is no sex,

But i don't want to sit next to a dominatrix on the ride home, dig?

Cybering takes away the reality that does come from proper sex.
Would you mind if I asked you to elaborate?

I greatly enjoy "proper" sex offline with my dedicated partner. Cybering is how I explore sexual options that I simply can't participate in (I've a history of spinal and muscular difficulties which have interfered in even the tamest scenarios, and one has to question the likelihood of more playful forms of sex when just being on top is enough to put my hip out).

Ittou, I found your post engaging and enjoyable to read, ontop of being thought provoking.

It's true. People definitely misrepresent themselves online, but I think its more exploratory than anything. 3nodding

I believe that it[cybering] is largely harmless. It's mostly a "Because I can" sort of thing, for me, anyway. What happens between consenting individuals [of legal age] isn't really anybody's buisiness.

s**t flippers need something to flip their s**t about. Circle of life.

Now on your topic of Cybering; anything involving the body, Americans don’t like. Look at our curse words, “a**“, “d**k“, “********“, and many, many more. Americans want to keep the body hidden. Pornography is frowned upon, even though a lot of people use it(I heard a some where for every one website there are five porn sites.)

Cybering is also frowned upon, but what I think pisses people off about Cybering is the Cyber-ers. A lot of the Cyber-ers on this site are like the ones posting on your thread. Horny and don’t take anything seriously. For me Cybering is ok(if you are an adult(for legal reasons(Actually legally it’s a lot better to be under 18; because if you are over 18 and the person you are with is under 18 you could be in some serious trouble.))), as long as you keep it in your virtual bedroom(or wherever its located).

In simple terms: “I don’t want to see you have sex.”

I think there should be 18+ only parts of Gaia.
That's actually a really good idea. 3nodding Everybody wins.

To make some parts over 18 the adults of the ones under 18 who pay for the Cash Shop items would not like it(under usual circumstances). So Gaia would probably lose money doing that. It’s the image of it being a website for children that makes it seem safe to allow you child on it. When you put parts that are meant for adults, it no longer seems safe.

Its like watching a movie, you could Censor the words, but you still know what they are. You know what will happen in the over 18 parts of the website.

I'm still... waiting... for a point... Was there an opinion in there along the lines of "why do cyber-er's get bashed?

I'm sorry, I have ADHD, so yeah, its hard sometimes for me to keep a linear structure. That was one of my points. If you are having problems, then maybe others are, too. I should list out my points.

1) Americans (I've noticed), usualy dont openly like things involving the body(like sex).(So that could be a reason)
2)Cyber-ers get bashed, becuase they are open about it.
3)Gaia would probably never have an over 18; becasue it would mostlikely lose money and its Image as a child friendly website.

I think I had others...

Well, i completely agree with your third point, but the first? I've heard alot around that america is one of the most openly sexually oriented places in the world, it's caught up in our advertisement, routine television and contemporary fashion, but that's only my impression from walking around, you could say.

And the second, i stated earlier that a big reason (because i got a bunch of feedback from others) that any open cyber player gets bashed is because they are routinely annoying.
The sort that would balk without any question or insight any sort of negative criticism, and, to another extent, people who believe that admitting stuff like that is absolution, case in point; Some dude pokes you for like an hour. He then stops and quips; "I know it must have been annoying that i was poking you for like, an hour." do you feel any better about the poking?
I'm not knocking your point, but are you willing to combat the opinion that the generally presented cyber-er is an annoying person, almost entirely?

There actually used to be an 18+ links section in the early days of Gaia. It was removed because of complaints that if the site itself could officially endorse 18+ content then the forums shouldn't be restricted to PG-13 limit.

I've only met a few who've passed my age sad

I don't cyber, I'm a bit too young for that xD But you make an excellent point. I don't make fun, or hate against, people for cybering. I just leave that topic alone. Like it should be. If you want to, then great, if you don't then keep your mouth shut.

I feel this way about so many topics, but I feel that my point will never get through to anyone. ._.

I thought about this earlier this week. My conclusion was that it’s not really an escape or excuse for/from regular sex. More of gratification for instead of; but not in lack of actual sex. A fetish if you will. Also I sort of think of it as like a “make your own porn” the users have control over what’s being done without the actual risks that occur from having real sex. It’s like the safety of porn with the control of sex.

Yes keeping a nuetral point for all topics rarely draws attenition.
Regardless I know what you mean.

America is getting more sexual, but we still hide some things about sex. Its where you can be open, but to a point(depending on who you‘re with). Like in a usual office(for a job that does not relate to sex or marketing), you wouldn’t openly say “I just bought this new porno movie where these two girls s**t in a cup and throw it on each other.” to everyone.

Sure we have half naked teens selling there a** for candy on billboards right outside that office window. So yeah America is sexual, but more hidden. And the best place to hide things are out in the open. I believe that in the future a lot of walls will be torn down, but a lot of them are still up.

I wasn’t saying that all cyber-ers are annoying, I was saying that the people who where more vocal usually are(that doesn’t mean always just most of the time). Not every one who is vocal is annoying. It could just be a random person who ask you once “Excuse me would you like to cyber?” You respond “No.” and they leave.

That’s not as annoying as the person who repetitively asks over and over again “hey wanna cyber!? DUDE WE SHOULD CYBER! You would look hot Cybering!” Then after 30 minutes of that you would be very annoyed by that person if you didn’t want to cyber. I would have left after 5. Then after all that the person apologizes for being rude; while apologizing is usually a nice thing. But in some situations, it seems like the person should have thought before hand.

Edit: You are more likely to remember some one who is annoying then someone who is nice. So even if a lot of the Cyber-ers where nice, if you meet a good handfull, you'd most likly have a negitive veiw about it.
