You might work hard for your gold, but then, artists work hard for their art. The average avatar art I do takes me about 10 hours, but I've spent 20 hours on pieces before.

Okay so Mr. Kaiser here works on a piece for approximately 10-20 hours. Let's average the two; we get 15 hours an art piece.

If you take that, pretend he's AT LEAST getting minimum wage for his art...

15 hours * $6.25 an hour = $93.75.

I don't quite think you understand the detail and sweat that goes in to every PRETTY LITTLE CHIBI presented here on Gaia. I have friends that spend 20+ hours on an art piece and it's absolutely WONDERFUL.

The thing about art is... there is no such thing as GOOD or BAD art. There isn't. And it's quite obvious that you don't understand that, not being an artist yourself.

An art piece's worth is ONLY determined by what someone is WILLING to pay for it. If you offer me $5 on a commission but someone else offer me $50 to do a commission.. do you think I'd waste sweat and tears for $5? neutral

Lets see...I actually stumbled upon this thread because I was trying to look for prices of different avi arts. I want to start my own shop, and I wanted to know what the average cost was for avi art. This thread caught my eye, so I started reading more and more comments and finally decided to voice my own opinion!! ^_^

The way I see it:
Why would you pay millions of gold for a tiny pixelated accessory for your avi? In my opinion, a customized avi art just for you is way better than some item you and plenty others buy in the marketplace. I'm not saying avi art should cost millions of gold, I'm just saying that I think it's more valuable than some things you can get for the same price on Gaia.

It's all up to the artist...whether they want to charge less than 1k or more than 100k. If you can't afford the art, just move on and maybe you'll find someone who thinks differently about their price range. I'm sure if you REALLY like someone's art, you'll at least try to reach the price, either that or negotiate with said artist. :3
