You know, I find it ironic and very hypocritical of Tam to whine about how 'anti-circs are calling all parents who circumcise their children bad parents' (despite the fact I have never seen such a claim made by anyone) all while calling someone who is vehement in their stance against RIC an emotionally and mentally unfit parent. I was going back through her posts because I could have sworn I saw her say she fully intends to cut any sons she has, and came across that particular comment from her.

that's just disturbing..of course they'd cry..of course it would hurt...and it's not like they had proper anesthesia during those ancient times...plus..others were of malpractice..

heh..wanna know my country's old way of doing it?..they didn't any blades..heh..they used a sharpened piece of bamboo

Ancient times? So 2004 is 'ancient times'? You know, since there was a boy born and circumcised in a hospital in Atlanta, Georgia (one of the biggest cities in the US) who lost the tip opf his p***s when he was cut.

plus..isn't the process meant for sanitary purposes?

Only if you don't have soap and water and don't know how to take a bath and plan to be a very lazy parent. Otherwise, no, not at all.

gabyeshpah
..and..if the child were to be given the choice at an age when he'd know what it was..he'd definitely say no..how would you react if your parent told you "they're gonna cut your p***s and take some skin off,sweety"...

Funny, there are men who do get circumcised later in life. Granted, many of them end up regretting the decision and say it was the worst decision they ever made, but still.

However, like Sensorium said, the body being cut on should be the one to give permission for it to happen. Parents who say 'it's my right to choose for him' make me sick. If they were cut on without their consent, had parts of their body removed, they'd be FURIOUS about it. I'm not talking about guys who say 'I'm fine with being circumcised as a baby' I'm talking about the here and now. If they were strapped down and parts of their body were cut off against their will they would be livid and scream about it being a violation of their rights. Yet, they want to do it to their infant sons because 'they can'. It's sick and sadistic.

wouldn't that be malpractice then?..

personally..if ever I do have a son I'd get him circed at around 1-2 years old..and it's not for sexual purposes, like you accused the other gaian of,i have no fetish with a cut p***s...that's just sick..

my child will be knocked out of course..and be supplied with pain killers as much as possible..that's what my auntie did to his son at 2 years old..he didn't complain..and yes at that age he was able to tell others if it hurt or not..

he's currently 15 and doesn't remember a thing..just being in bed for a while

Nope no your child would not be knocked out. They do not knock children out for circumcisions. They apply a topical cream, IF they're lucky they might get a little anesthesia injected into the p***s, the fused foreskin is then pried up, often crushed to kill the nerves, and then cut off. Then, to add insult to injury, they're just given a little baby tylenol even though that in no way helps with the pain. That's like telling someone who has just had oral surgery to take an aspirin and it'll feel better. Or any other kind of surgery for that matter. I know after I had knee surgery, or hell after I had my wisdom teeth removed, if they'd told me to just take an aspirin I'd have hit them because aspirin would NOT have done s**t for the pain.

I seriously doubt he was two, that or he was non-verbal because it would have hurt and he would have made it known. Claiming that it didn't is too much of a lie that it's not even funny.

mhmm..so are you saying a member of my family is a liar?..

ah..I also recall my classmate had a circum just last year..he was alright with it..he didn't even mind..

you're making such a fuss over a little thing that will eventually go away..my mother just read your post and grinned with a shake of her head..

it's not like everyone will know your d**k was cut up just by looking at your crotch..

Personally, I agree with the fact that it's mutilation. I would have my son have the procedure.
It's tradition for my culture.
And I *do* think it's more clean. Some folks don't have the best hygiene, and it's something that you have to take care of, and if you don't....D: <shudder>

ftw.

My name is Malka.
It is a Hebrew name.
And I fell in love with the smile of a Catholic boy.

Any girl can be glamorous. All you have to do is stand still and look stupid.

I'm personally for it. The foreskin in basically useless and having it removed is really all a matter of cleanlyness and health for the guy. So really there is nothing wrong.

[Edit: It's amazing how both sides of the argument apparently had to turn to insulting the other ._." ]

And why do you have to do it at age 1 or 2? Why do you have to do it in the first place?

And what culture would that be?

and you have to take care of it whether its circumcised or not, and for a baby, cleaning an uncircumcised one is actually easier, a lot of pople don't know that, for an adult, it takes a second to clean, its like washing under your arms

Perhaps you should actually learn some medical facts before posting bullshit. The foreskin does have a purpose, read the quote below from a medical professional. And no it does not make it cleaner, perhaps we should circucumcised you because its "cleaner" and see how you like it. It is also not healthier to be circumcised, look at the 80% of the world that is not circumcised, no major issues.

Quote:
What Is The Purpose Of The Foreskin?

The foreskin has three known functions: protective, sensory, and sexual.

During infancy, the foreskin is attached to the glans and protects it from urine, feces, and abrasions from diapers. Throughout life, the foreskin keeps the glans soft and moist and protects it from trauma and injury. Without this protection, the glans becomes dry, calloused, and desensitized from exposure and chafing.

Specialized nerve endings in the foreskin enhance sexual pleasure.

The foreskin may have functions not yet recognized or understood.
