Chatterbox:: Not just a Can of Spam  Gaia Online :: Index Chatterbox Hungry for gold? Post whatever nonsense you wish here. The Chatterbox Forum has more than 10 million posts under it's belt and gains many more each day. It has the most amount of posts compared to any other forum on Gaia. Chatterbox is home to many Gaians, including myself. It helps newbs get started (while they avoid the Welcome Forum), it helps flamers find amusement and it allows Gaians to just discuss anything! Bumping/Spamming:: Many Gaians find simple enjoyment in bumping or spamming the chatterbox, however annoying it may be. Gaians spam the Chatterbox to achieve that amount of gold that they are seeking. Quote: Fierygoddess' Request Please stop over bumping the Chatterbox and taking up full pages with just bumps. E.g. Donations:: I see many newbs constantly begging for gold in the chatterbox. They are constantly turned down, and instead, revert to yelling at those who choose not to donate to them. I, myself, have experienced this many times. Just because other Gaians choose not to donate to you, does not mean that you can insult them for that reason, nor that you should insult them for posting in the wrong forum. The Chatterbox Forum was not created to beg for donations (Chatterbox doesn't want to steal the donation forum's job!). Requests for donations are often turned down. Although it is not technically against the rules to post begging threads in the Chatterbox, you might have more luck in the Charity forum. Get lost while looking for the "Charity" forum? Look no further. Click here! Chatterbox Bars:: There are many bars, restaurants and cafes found in the Chatterbox. You can locate a few of them in the sticky, "Chatterbox Bar Curcuit." Most of the time that I am in the Chatterbox, I see a bar on the first page. They are not hard to find and usually have very nice people managing them. Some bars, as mentioned in the "Chatterbox Bar Curcuit" thread, are different. Some incorporate fighting, some food, and some entertainment... while there are still a variety of other types of bars out there. Roleplay bars should now be moved to the "Commerce" forum. There they will stay. Please, when making a bar with the purpose of roleplaying, put it in the commerce so that a moderator doesn't have to move it. 3nodding For further information on this matter, read this. Advertising:: Whenever I visit a thread in the Chatterbox, I never fail to see an advertiser or two. Some threads will delete your posts, while some, mostly threads with rules (such as a bar), may ban you. Advertising is not the best practice to keep up, but it is not a bad action. If you are going to advertise, please be courteous about it. Don't go into a thread that is similar to the one you are advertising for, it is very rude and unappreciated. A better way to advertise would be to make a banner and post it in your signature. That way you can draw attention to it, without having to advertise constantly. Identical Threads:: I've noticed that during holidays or even during the regular season, Chatterbox hosts many threads that are similar. What's the point of having a million "Bump", "Rate me", "Spam", or "Happy St. Patrick's Day!" threads. Before you create a thread, please ensure that it is original. If you are just too lazy to browse through the Chatterbox's first page, to see if there are any threads you can visit, instead of creating one of your very own, then please try it the next time, before you go and create a thread? The "rate me" problem. I've noticed that there are a few "I will rate you" threads. Those can help solve the millions of "Rate me" threads. Instead of creating one of your own, maybe you could look for feedback in one of those "I will Rate You" threads, or look for feedback on your avatar in the "Avatar Talk" forum. Identical threads just take up Gaia's bandwidth and could cause more critical errors. If you feel like spreading the joy about a holiday, see if there is a thread about it, before creating one of your very own. The "Recycle Bin" forum has been created to help clean up the main area of the Chatterbox, from its many identical threads. If you know your thread has been done before, please create it in the Recycle Bin. 3nodding It will receive just as much attention as it would when located in the Chatterbox. Keep it PG-13:: There is some un-PG-13-like behavior going on in the Chatterbox. Anni has already created a thread (it is stickied), that discusses how cybering is not allowed on Gaia. The Chatterbox, being full of the all the nonsense that it is, can have a lot of un-PG-13-like behavior going on. If you see someone getting harrassed by/harrassing another member of Gaia, please report it to a mod immediately. That also goes for those you see cybering. Please refer to Anni's sticky about the rules about cybering. If you haven't already read it, Click here! We all know (and most of us love) the Chatterbox.
