well, most atheists believe that God is some floating man on a cloud

some believe that religion is the cause for all wars

some believe that you shoud be able to find physical evidence of a omipotent, transcendant, "being" (if you can even call it that)

they also believe that everyone that isnt atheist is christian, apparently.


overall they are an unlikeable group of hypocrites that are only worse than the people they hate

Atheists may compare god to such a figure, but ultimately we believe he probably doesn't exist.

Religion is clearly not the cause of all wars. Some might argue it's the cause of the bloodiest and more brutal wars fought in human history, but it's plainly idiotic to say they were all caused by religion.

While verifiable evidence would be preferable, we'd very much be open to at least a philosophical solution. This has yet to be achieved, especially since most are actually shot down by current physical evidence.

Actually, I'd be more inclined to believe that you're an idiot than the truth of this statement. When you're not an atheist, you're either a theist or someone who chooses to sit on the fence ((the question of Gnosticism is a different one, so these are not mutually exclusive)). Even if you’re a theist, there are myriads of religions to choose from and anybody who classifies all of this under Christian is just plain idiotic. Due to the high percentage of the US population being Christian, most of these atheist may assume that you’re a Christian if you’re an American theist, or more likely to be such.

Really, don’t try to pawn yourself off as a bastion of virtue or righteousness because it would seem that you’re the same hypocrite, and you’re not even right in your presumable assumptions, which makes you even worse.

They often convert when they actually sit down and read the bible. They find that the so called God they have been worshiping is unworthy for their praise. They might find that the teachings of love are inconsistent with the things God has done, or commanded other people to do. Or they just become more dependent on viewing evidence, and less dependent on faith.

Why do some Atheists convert to Christianity?
I left Christianity because it made no sense to me -- I found it illogical, and I find the Christian God to be a douche canoe.
If Christianity makes sense to you, then good for you; it doesn't for me, and it never will.

I am a Born Again Christian, I believe in the word and teachings of Christ and try to live my life in his footsteps as to speak; but I USED to be a large atheist myself, I used to mock Faith and find it rather amusing at the fact people were taking such a thing seriously. However, a few things in life changed, I grew older, did some research, and after a while I began to see my ways, and believe. Thats perfectly amazing for me, but its not for everyone, and as a previous atheist myself, I do not and will never hold it against anybody if they dont believe in my beliefs, thats not what the Bible is about, and if a Christian does do this, then you are commiting sin; obviously that isnt a good thing haha.
So in answer to your question, nobody 'converts' or 'changes' to become an atheist, and if they do, they have personal and reasonable reasons for doing so.

As a general rule, people tend to convert to atheism because they see no reason to believe in a higher being.

I've never believed in a God.

Yeah, same here. My parents are atheists and I was raised without any kind of religion or belief in the supernatural.

As an end note: even if we were to prove a god exists, you have all of your work still ahead of you. You'd then have to prove its your Christian version as opposed to Shiva, Wotan, Apollo, Ra, or even Quetzacoatl.
