Well... The Twilight fandom has turned a majority of the female population of my school against me.

I wrote an anti-Twilight article and had it published in the school newspaper, Newspeak, a week or two ago. Nota bene, my school is not very large. There are no more than 500 hundred students in it and it consists of people grades 6-12. Still, the day my article ran, I could feel the buzz from people, either in shock that I had written the article, entirely neutral, or calling my message the words of God.

Someone called me horrible, another said I was a b***h, people tried to start rumors (but I'm the sort of nice, geeky person you just can't help but like :3), and I felt the weight of haughty stares following me for the next few days.

There are still quite a few people who won't even talk to me, including a really sweet theatre-friend of mine. D: She doesn't even look at me anymore.

On a brighter note, there were people who said my writing was very good, regardless of if they agreed with me or not. I respect them very much, especially the sane fans secure enough in their opinions to hear mine out. I made a lot of people laugh; that's a job well done, I think.

Wow. I live in a town with a High School of about five hundred kids, and a girl I know (Who was in my art club, and she's a very talented and smart person.) did a review in the school paper about the movie. She pretty much said the movie sucked, but the main actors (Robert Pattenson and Kirsten...something....anyways...) did a good job, and she hailed them as being the next Hollywood movie power couple. =3 Which is good, I think. I can't say their acting sucked if they really had nothing to work with in the personality department. ;D

Wow... I haven't had nearly as much as an impact here from twilight. Though I've said nothing about my preferences towards Twilight at my school, I refuse to read it, given two things: 1. I have a heavy prejudice against all pro-vampire material (I know it's not fair, but) 2. Based on its fanbase, and its anti-fanbase, it doesn't sound attractive on either side.

One of my good friends is a twilight fan. He is not obsessive, I've discovered, and this pleases me. There is, however, a small corner of my school of which I have yet to find out whether they've kept their sanity or not.

But the book Twilight has done me some good. It is possible, indeed, hear me out. My sister loved vampires. She said they were awesome, and given my prejudice against them, this annoyed the hell out of me. She is also rather 'scenester.' Prime material for Twilight's infectious fanbase. Ever since Twilight came out...

...my sister decided she would have nothing to do with it, or even vampires altogether. (°ᵚ°)

I still see and treat those who like vampires just like anyone else. After all, no need to get overworked over mere fiction, right? (Try convincing the assailant's on Pumkinn's list. JEEZ...)

I am also in preference of vampires that burn in sunlight, as opposed to this gary-sue god-moder, Cullen.

I'm mostly attacked verbally. My group in English class totally, with the exception of the openly sexist guy, love and adore Twilight. They couldn't believe I hated it and could never stop trying to get me to like it.

At book club, we were discussing "Nineteen Minutes" by Jodi Picoult, and everyone was dissing one of the main character's boyfriend. I asked them, because the BF is very posessive, "How do you guys hate him for being posessive when Edward does the same to Bella minus the physical abuse? You condemn this guy for being posessive and Edward stole the enguine out of her car so she couldn't see Jacob!!" and they went OFF on me.

Today in physics (one of the worst classes EVER) we were talking about how we can't stand that song "Love Story." I can't stand it because the radio station at school played it for 2.5 weeks straight. My friend said she couldn't stand it because it was so unrealistic. She loves Twilight and I actually had to bit my tongue, literally, to stop from asking, "You don't like 'Love Story' b/c it's unrealistic but you love the Twilight Saga?"

Somoeone needs to find a crowd of these people and hold a mirror. Provided they don't just deny it and smash the mirror, which probably is what just happened in your case.

But I thought you made a great, healthy step against Twilight obsession by providing such sane argument. By the way, great truth in your signature.
