Zuko is the name my father and mother gave me upon birth. It's almost an heirloom, numerous Fire lords in the past have had a similar name.

There has been a devastating war between the nations- the Fire nation against the rest actually. Because of the element they control, they're typically quite bloodthirsty, cruel and highly ambitious. (Keep in mind that it was not always so.)

My great-grandfather Fire Lord Sozin started the war almost a century ago, and my father Ozai followed in his footsteps. I was of course, a loyal follower of my father for most of my life but recently decided it was time for a bit of a change.
Now, I am fighting against him with the help of the Avatar. Why? Because this dissension between nations needs to be abolished as soon as possible. And defeating my father is the only way to do it.

I sincerely hope my explanation made some sort of sense- it is a long and complicated tale that really deserved much more than a few half-hearted lines but there is hardly any time to do so.
