I think it also runs aground of the "Constant Holiday" principle which says if you tried to make Christmas every single day, you would sell a lot fewer gifts each day...

People tend to appreciate cool things the most when there is plenty of space between them, and once a year happens to suit our culture pretty well.

By moving the location, different "people" can party, while the sellers can pack up and take it on the road like a traveling carnival.
