HELLO Ü
how do you give a cat a bath?
I want you to know that I am not a vet, but have owned and bred cats for quite some time. (Before you give me the rant about spaying and neutering, they were purebred and had papers, and I made sure all offspring found lovely homes. ._.; )
Okay. I've had to give kitties baths for various reasons (including but not limited to: a kitten playing in car oil, a stray brought to me - because I quote "you like and have cats" - who had fleas running up and down her face visibly, smeeeellly caaaat!, and precautions for therapy kitties to go see patients).
The first thing you want to do, find someone to help. They need to restrain the cat gently. If its a laid back cat - like most of mine were - holding them just above the water should be fine.
I highly recommend using a pull down showerhead as it doesn't freak out the cats as much. If not, try using a pitcher of warm water. Always make sure the water is warm, not cold or hot. If you wouldn't put a human baby in it, don't put a kitty in it!
Use baby shampoo or flea killing shampoo that's gentle enough for kittens. Make sure you stay away from the face, as shampoo hurts when it gets in the eyes and water is just unpleasant in the face for kitties!
Most important, make it as quick as possible and if you are scared of getting clawed, trim the nails prior to the bath. Keep a bath towel nearby too because hairdryers are too loud and frightening for kitties. Make sure to wash out ALL soap as well from his/her fur so that afterwards when you set them free to run they don't lick up the shampoo and get sick.
That's my advice on that subject...^-^;
