Also I question pertaining to my dog Ciara age 5/6 Female she humps my cat and i often have to lift my dog off my cat, what does that mean? My family and friends just think she's a lesbian. does it mean she wants a male mate?

Love of Hatred
I recently got two baby red-eared sliders. They seem to be okay, but when I poked their shells, they were a little soft. Is this because they're young, or is there something wrong? Pics are in my siggy. smile

i know a bit about turtles, i had some before.

YES, it's their age, as they mature the shells will grow (like them) and harden.

Im gonna be using this thread a lot. cool

I have a question about my pug (arent pugs adorable?)
In the morning, her right (I think it's the right?) eye is all swollen and shut, and there seems to be a lot of pus or maybe eye "snot". After a few hours, around afternoon, her eye is all right. We do clean the eye boogeys, by the way. xp

If it matters, we've had her for 5 years about, and have another dog, Max (who is a pit bull/germen shepard mix, and a wonderful doggy). They've had all there'll shots, medicine, and are fixed. The pug, Ada, is not sick or anything. My father beleives she has alergies.

Also, what do you know about hermit crabs? Just asking. Ive been obsessed with them for about 3 years. Ive always wanted one, although Ill probably have to wait until my dogs die (I dont want that anytime soon, though!)

...anyways, i actually do have a question. at home, i have a small dog. she is a beagle mix of some kind. usually my parents have me cut her nails, but now that i am at school 3 hours from home, there is usually a bit more time in between cuts. my question is: how often should she have her nails trimmed, so that way i can tell my parents to get them done somewhere if i am not going to be home?

Nail clipping should be done every six to eight weeks, depending on the dog.

Thank you for the positive feedback!

thank you very much for the prompt response! i really appreciate it. i also thought of another question: i once heard one of the vets that i worked with mention that there were 3 kinds of dogs- herders, hunters, and terriers. the herders are easy to train and very loyal. the hunters are slightly less easy to train, but once they are trained, they are as amazing as herders. then the terriers are the ones that do the training, not the humans. therefore, my question is: is this typically the case? my little dog... cat... thing (shes a beagle, basenji, terrier mix who thinks shes a cat) has proven very difficult to train and i was just wondering whether it really was her, or whether i need to train my parents first.
in all seriousness here

is it bad if my dog ate the neighbors chihuahua?
any health problems or anything?
My rabbit lately has become very violent towards other people besides me. when i reach in her cage to grab her she does nothing but when others do she jumps and tries to attack them. this has only been happening recently and i do not know why. can you please try to explain if theirs something wrong or if shes just gotton older or what? im really worried.
I just got a new cat today, what's the best way to introduce her to my other cat? I keep finding things like, "let them visit after a day," and "only use baby gates for 2 weeks or more." What do you think is best?

The new cat seems fine with the other cat, there's just some paw-swatting going on, but the cat that's been here longer hisses and seems scared of her, even though he will lick your fingers if they smell like her.

Hello there!
I have a question about my pet rat.
She's developed a mammary cyst, and it seems to slowly be getting bigger.
I was wondering if getting her spayed would prevent more tumors from forming. I've heard that this is the case, but I want to make sure.
Also, do you have any anti-chewing remedies or training techniques? Whenever I let her out on free-range time, she makes a beeline for the electrical wires. I've put them in what seems to be an out of reach area, but she still seems to get to them. I'm so scared that she may get electrocuted!!!
Thank you for your time!

Generally spaying does help animals with mammary cysts. But if she will be undergoing surgery anyway, it might be best to have the cyst biopsied as well, just to make sure it is benign.

My cats chew on cords as well and I have found that using a product like bitter apple or bitter grape does help, but has to be reapplied. Maybe try wrapping the wires with the sticky side of the electrical tape outward. This helps with cats, but not sure if it helps with rats. I hope this helps because I would hate for your rat to be electrocuted too! I did treat a rabbit with electrical burns in its mouth once. Not pretty.

Thanks for the advice! I'll probably try the electrical tape thing first, since I'm not sure if she'll hate the bitter apple or like it. Also, I'll get her in ASAP to get the tumor biopsied. If it gets any bigger in the time being, I'll get her in right away.
