My lab/retreiver is hacking like crazy. Some times it randomly happens other times its because he's barking. When he does this its like he's trying to throw up, bu he doesn't. He just stands there heaving. I'm afraid for him because he cant stop

I asked about this in another thread, and was directed here. So here goes:

My kitty keeps bringing us presents. In the form of rodents. Mostly mice, sometimes shrews, occasionally a chipmunk. I know it's a perfectly normal cat thing to do, but lately it's been every day. And today, he's caught two.

We give him plenty of food and he always has access to water, so I know he's not motivated to hunt by hunger. I'm just worried about him picking up parasites from the rodents. We do give him a monthly treatment on the back of the neck that's supposed to prevent fleas, ticks, and worms, but I don't know how well it's working, and I'd really rather not risk him getting a worm or fleas.

Well, then there's the cleanup. He does eat the mice, but I guess not all of them is tasty, because there's always...leftovers. Pretty icky to look at and clean up. This isn't a huge issue, but I'd really like to see if I can discourage him from actually eating the mice.

hello! i just have a quick question: what exactly is FIP? we had a cat about 5 years ago that died from it, and i was just wondering.

It stands for Feline Infectious Peritonitis and it is a reallly badd for cats
age of the cat (usually less than 2 years or older than 13 years)
fever that comes and goes and is not responsive to antibiotics
loss of appetite
weight loss
low energy
neurological signs such as seizures or difficulty with balance
urinary incontinence, which is rare in cats and is almost always a sign of FIP
a very large abdomen filled with fluid (in the wet form only)
if these where sympoms then yea it was FIP i feel bad for your cat RIP

hey yeah, years ago we had the same problem with my husky. We finally took him to a vet, and the problem was that he had eaten a piece of string with a tiny little glass shoe on the end of it. We still have no idea where he got it from, but we assume he got it from walking in the woods or something...anyway, he still had one end of the string in the back of his throat and the other end of the string was in all the way in his intestines...he had to have surgery to remove it. But hes still alive and well today at nine years old...i would get your pup checked out at the vets...
*sigh* reminds me of our oldest family dogs latest death....died of breast cancer...R.I.P peaches.
I have a question, can dogs smell a baby when a woman is pregent?
Hey there Xana, another question.

I have a cat (who I asked about earlier, slightly overweight and all that.), and her name is Cassie.
Lives a normal cat life.
What she likes to do is go outside, but we don't allow her to because there are some nasty, diease-carrying, skinny kitties next door. And plus, she likes to get in the old chimney (a brick is missing, which allows her access. Once I came home from a friend's, and found a sooty kitty sitting on my chair.).

We are calling the humane society on said neighboring cats. When they are out, we hope to allow Cassie access to our little backyard.

What I wanted to ask about this whole thing is whether or not Cassie can bring in diseases from there.
(Notes: Neighboring cats have been back there, since they are let loose. Don't like them at all, they climb on screen doors, make our other fur-kids go off, ect.
Also, we are sure that said cats are carrying at least Parvo.)

Hello there,

Feed them one third a cup of Oxbow's Cavy Cuisine daily.
And you can feed them veggies like parsley, romaine lettuce, and carrots.
Apples are good treats too.
They also eat Timothy Hay, unlimited access to it daily.
NEVER alfala, too fatty and they don't need all the excess nutrients.

Remember, their health is all in the diet.

@babylashay
Take your pet to the vet right now! You never let a bone that may be broken wait because it could begin to heal wrong. AKA, to fix the bone that set wrong it must be rebroken and set again.
This is very painful and unnecessary.
