I live in the country, on a five acre plot of land, and love cats, but my cats (when we have any) all live outside, they always are happy, plenty of opportunity to hunt and stalk flying bugs and leaves, but the problem is coyotes. I believe we were told once that there was a coyote den on our property, and we know that there are many of the little buggers in the area, so how do we keep the coyotes off of the land, without scaring the cats off as well. Bringing the cats inside is NOT an option.

You might consider going to a hunting store and see if they have large predator urine. You can mark the area you want to keep the coyotes out of. You might also get some motion sensitive lights as well. They should scare off the coyotes.

hi. i have a couple of questions here.

First off, i have a Juvenile Bearded Dragon named Oromis. he's not sick or anything, it's just that i'm trying to get him to start learning to eat his leafy greens, fruits and vegetables. so far all he's really liked is corn. i've tricked him into eating a piece of apple by first offering some corn and then giving him the piece of apple but he never fell for that trick again. i've offered him his "salad" every day but he only eats the corn or he won't eat any of it and just wait for his crickets. i know that insects still make up a huge portion of his diet but i want him to start getting used to eating greens so that when he's an adult i won't have any problems with his refusing to eat it. any suggestions?

Then i have a juvenile iguana named Naruto that i just got a couple of days ago. again, he's not sick either but he's eating little (but i suspect that's because he's just getting used to his new home so i'm not really worried yet). he goes berserk every time i go near his cage to clean it up or replace his food and water bowl with fresh food and water but again, that's because he's not used to me. any tips on how to calm him down and tame him a bit?

And last but not least, there's Liam the hamster...a friend of my mom's friend gave him to me the night i got Naruto because they were apparently allergic to him and were looking for a new home for him. He's not aggressive at all. He's just plain shy. I've let him sort of sniff my finger when he's awake so he can start getting used to me and i've even offered him a bit of his food from my fingers and he's taken it. but any movement other than that and he'll dive under his bedding. he's running on his excersice wheel all night long. i don't really mind 'cause i don't hear it at all since i'm a deep sleeper but my mom says he sounds like a washing machine blaugh any advice on how to get him to trust me and any other methods so he can run all he wants and not piss off my mom?

I am not a reptile expert, but you can find articles about feeding reptiles at veterinarypartner.com. I ave a feeling that corn may be kind of like candy to your beardie. I hate to cut him off, but maybe only give him corn after he has eaten other things.

I would just give the iguana time. That is really not a long time to have him. Where did you acquire him from? How much handling has he had before you got him?

Regarding the hammie, only give him his wheel during the day. Unfortunately these guys are naturally nocturnal, so it will be hard retraining him to be active during the day but I think it can be done. Just keep working with him, putting your hand in the cage and letting him explore it. continue hand feeding him at times. Patience is the key.

Anyway, I have a dog named Dundee, (he is an aussie sheapheard.) and when Itake him on walks he stops and licks leaves twigs or logs etc. (we think he might be licking other dogs pee > sad ) So if you could tell me why that would be great smile THANKS!

Hey Xana, been a while since I asked a question here....
It's a weird one, by the way xD...

Well, my cat Mowgli, who just turned 3 (October 4th), has never been a fan of human food... Or even cat treats. He usually wrinkles his nose and walks away, disgusted. Tuna, chicken, cheese, turkey, wet cat food, Temptations... He hates it all. All he likes is his kibble (and he doesn't even really gorge himself on that--- that is why he is such a skinny kitty, he only eats what he needs). But sometimes, if we have eaten olives, he will come up on the table (My kitty is spoiled and is allowed on the table since all he usually does is watch us from a corner of it, all tucked into himself) and will lick the olive juice off our plates! D:
And today/yesterday, his birthday, I was in the kitchen and my dad had had some garlic stuffed olives and left the spoon on the counter, Mowgli jumped up, and drank the drops left in the spoon! I stopped him, put the spoon in the sink, and continued what I was doing, but he went into the sink to go after the spoon~ D: I had to wash it and put it away.

So my question is... Is olive juice bad for cats?

I have a 13 year old English Mastiff.
She gets cysts sometimes and random lumps. Mum tells me not to worry and that old dogs get lumps.
Apart from having arthritis she seems healthy to me. But she has this big lump on her leg that is purple and it worries me.
