well, my yorkie puppy is usually a giant bundle of joy.
but ever since the place where I live sprayed an insecticide outside my apartment she has been acting weird.
first, her ears are completely down, and I think that just the pure exhaustion is making her ears go down, sort of like how a beagle's ears go down.
and her ears are always perked up, unless she being scolded, then they lay back
http://i359.photobucket.com/albums/oo31/crashbashflash/raltsy.jpg
that is her usually.
secondly, she will not sleep. like, she'll lay down for maybe two minutes and she'll hop up like something just bit her behind, then start digging at wherever she's at then run around and itch like crazy.
(it's not fleas)
lastly, she won't use the bathroom at all
She has an appointment tomorrow morning at 10, my vet couldn't get her in any sooner, so nothing with TAKE HER TO THE VET IMMEDIATELY, I'm doing the best I can.

That is odd indeed, but I think that your vet seeing her at ten tomorrow is fine. biggrin

Some dog's ears can go up and down a bit actually associated with teething. It has to do with a calcium draw, as I understand. I would recommend giving her a good bath, if you think she may have been exposed to any chemicals that could be causing irritation to her skin. Call your vet and ask about a dosage of benadryl for her if she is so itchy she cannot sleep.

I am a bit concerned about the bathroom thing. Is there someplace away from the apartment that you could take her where she could relieve herself? Maybe a park or something? The bath may also encourage her to go.

Can you contact the apartment's agency or something to find out what type of insecticide was used? It would be helpful information for your vet to have.

I hope your baby is feeling better soon!

She's had a bath and I had no idea that you could give a doggy bennys.
because I have loads.
her skin does look a bit red and irritated.
she's probably about 4-5 pounds.

and we can't take her anywhere to go to the bathroom considering her appointment tomorrow it to get her 2nd round of shots.

The dosage for benadryl for dogs is 1 mg per lb. So would need the syrup for this small a dog.

Yeah, that is a bit of a problem, the shots thing. Generally, I don't worry about dogs going outside in their own yard when they are that young, but going to a park would not be a good idea. Friend's yard maybe?

Hmmmm...... Will she go on papers or peepee pads? I guess not. Hmmm.... Gosh, this one is a real tough one, strangely enough.

hey.. can you help me with my problem with my kitty?

When I get home, she's a good kitty, but after I play with her a bit, she sits on my lap and starts to try to BITE my fingers sad

I was just curious if your puppy is scratching where he got his last set of shots - some pups can have irritation at the shot site and even lose fur there

Make sure you tell your vet about all that you have mentioned to us here. Also, when and how much benadryl you gave him.

I hope all goes well, Ill be prayin smile

How hard is she biting? Is it realy hard or just more of a mouthing aspect?
it is a cats natural tendence to groom others in their pride (that would be you hehehe) and they tend to use gentle chewing now and then with licking if this is the case she is just trying to help keep you clean - dont be suprised if she tries bringing you a mouse as a gift (dont scold for this or you will end up with a rat or a bird too) pet her and maybe give her a treat and hope she wont do it again

Has she been fixed?
If your cat hasnt been Spayed they tend to go into heat - there can be lots of meowing, she will rub herself on you and might tend to lie down and get up or be a bit flopping around and the more you pet her the more they get nipy and tend to bite - sometimes even hard

even If, it isnt one of the two above - try behavioral control correction -
let her get on your lap and when she starts the n**/bite make her get off your lap
when she comes to get back on your lap allow it - but as soon as she starts the n**/bite put her on the floor again you can even say "no" or what ever you say when she does something you dont want her to do.

Hope this all works out for you smile

It is possible that it hurts - it could also be that she just doesnt like being petted there or in that way, some cats will be fine with it when they are young but as they get older they will have preferences. It could just be when she is in heat she wont like that sort of petting.

I left this for another post but it could count for you kitty too:

This isn't such a huge thing, I'm just a little worried.

I used to have 2 parakeets, but recently one of them died. We had no idea how when he was doing fine the night before. I know my other bird is lonely, but I've decided that getting another parakeet isn't the best idea now.

Just a few weeks ago I noticed my bird making little chirping sounds. I've never heard her do this before, so I'm wondering, is it something she picked up from the outside birds or it is something else? Also, my mother suggested we give the bird away to someone who will give more attention to it, should I? (My bird isn't being neglected but I don't have the time to play anymore since it's my final year of High School and I also work)

No rush in an answer, I think its a silly one anyway.

Thanks.

As far as I know, it is normal for budgies to chirp (mine did), But I am by no means a bird expert.

Rehoming the bird is a very personal decision. I understand your not wanting to get another bird at this time, but being worried about your pet's mental health. I think it would be ok for the bird either way.

Thanks Xana, I appreciate it.

your bird has had another bird in its cage as company and she maybe calling for her friend - my suggestion is to get her a mirror so that she has one - fortunate for use these little guys cope a little better just to see another face like their own smile

If you were going to get another bird - it isnt a bad idea, but keep in mind they might not get along in the same cage - you would have to have 2 cages for a while til they got used to each other (at least that is the usual with birds) some just get along like finch but you can ask the pet shop these details if you decide to get anouther each breed has their own issues there.

the mirror should do the trick though, let me know ok smile

hello xanna44,
i actually already asked this and i am sorry that i am asking again. The thing is i couldnt find your answer or even my original post. the question is about my dog, she is a minni. austrailian shepherd and she is mostly outside because of work; with the weather getting colder should i be increasing her dog food allowance? i dont want her to get fat but i dont want her to not have enough energy to stay warm and naturally active either? please reply and again so sorry to ask again. it sure is nice to have a fellow gaian who is also an animal lover and healer.

It is easy for things to get lost on this thread! I have missed questions as well.

You will need to increase her intake in the colder weather as she will be burning more calories just to stay warm. I am not exactly sure how much you need to increase, but I can try to find out. Do make sure she has plenty of water as well as they need this in the winter as well as summer and make sure it does not freeze. They do make heated bowls. Also get her a dogloo or similar that is just bigger than she is.

I will try to get that answer for you soon.

Im sorry, but I really felt the need to add this response:
depending on where you live and how cold it gets there - I have heard that a heated dog house is needed for small dogs that are kept outdoors for long periods of time - you might want to check into this with a local vet or breeder (as they would know regarding the area where you are)

Heya guys,
Well I have a Female Calico tabby (Allie), who is about.... 13 or 14 I believe maybe even 12 sweatdrop
Anywho, Lately she's been acting very different for all the years I've known her (and The ones I can't remeber yeah I'm 15 haha then maybe she's 12 sweatdrop ) she's always been a fraidy cat (literally) sweatdrop and afraid to even go a few inches from the door if we leave it open, and about a year ago her play buddy Dustin got out and never came back now she still won't even go to driveway with out freaking out but she'll go outside lazy around. And she Also sleeps a lot more.
And Lately we've had to decrease her wet food intake since she's getting older. But she's still going the same amount, and also is being a lot more agressive. Take it from my sister she's actually almost bit both of us. I haven't noticed or felt anything strange, but also sometimes she's a lot more sensitive. And very very vocal. I don't think anythings wrong with her but then again, I'm not entirely sure, and since I haven't been able to volenteer at the vet's office I haven't gotten a chance to go down there and ask. sad Can ya'll help? question
Thanks a million for even reading this mrgreen

I looked and it didnt look like you got answered yet, but just in case sorry I missed the reponse if it was and this happens to be something you already heard hehehe:

is she fixed? was Dustin a fixed male?

It could just be she is missing her friend and is now just realizing he isnt going to return home. She may also know what happened to him - it is hard to say.

My sister had 3 cats and when one of them passed away - the other 2 were quiet for abou a week and then started meowing and seemed to search the house for him for a week or so - this is only a possible reason

If she has not been spayed and Dustin was fixed - she might just be going through a heat cycle (yes, fixed males can still do the bring them out of heat job - the question is whether they will bother with it)

If she isnt as active as she was before Dustin disappeared maybe consider getting another adult Male Playmate. If you get a young cat it will probably be too fiesty and if you get another female they may have territorial issues and tend to fight. Another Tabby or Calico about her age maybe 8-12ish to play with, might help to keep her active

I hope that helps

Hey there!

I've just got a quick question about my cat, Tobee. He has lost all of his fangs but he still had the little ones left. I just wanted to know if this is because he's getting old or we should have him looked at. I'm pretty sure it's just his age but I really wanted to make sure.

Thank you!

I'll take this one off ya, Xana wink

the loss of teeth for any species is age, SEVERE lack of calcium, age or stupid moments during his or her life.

he could be getting old, but since you never specified age or how long you had him, i can't be positive, you should probably schedule an earlier date for your routine Veterinarian Visit, and should really bring this up.

(HEY, Xana? I made you a nice animal-themed profile layout, just comment me, or pm me whenever you want it)

Woops! Sorry about that. I though I was forgetting something. When we got him the people told us he was 1 but he never acted like a kitten so we think they lied. I'm not really sure how long we've had them but it's been a while so it's deffinatly age. Thanks!

This is probably obveous but I figured I should say it any how - make sure to provide Tobee with soft food, especially if he soent seem to be eating as much as he used to

Im very scared about my pet puppy, shes coughing up blood and wheezing really bad,do you know whats wrong with her?

I'm no expert, but I think you should get this pup to emergency vetrinary services right away. Coughing up blood nor wheezing are ever good signs. sad
Anyone else with more vetrinary experience have any insight on this?

chances are he/she has swallowed somthing she should not have (like a chicken bone) and an emergency trip to the vet is highly recomended.
