hey,
My dog is a old silly dog and has now a sort of fat ear. people say its cuz its the blood isnt flowing well and it will go away by time but its been a month and its still a huge ear. less red though. But ma grandma is worried.. He is not eating very regular.. If you have any idea what we should do..

Your dog has an ear hematoma. Blood vessels between the layers of cartilage in the pinna broke and a large bubble of blood formed there. Often it is secondary to head shaking from flies or an ear infection. Over time it will go away. But as they are uncomfortable, I do usually recommend draining them. It is probably too late for that in your dog, but maybe call your vet and ask about some pain relief for him.

thank you biggrin I will call the vet.. (bit late response:p)

Hi again...tons of pages now. We just recently adopted another cat into th house, and he is totall attache to my step dad, he won't go out of the room unless my step dad is around. But anyways, my puppy has taken to eating bugs. All kinds of bugs, even when they sting her...is there anyway we can stop this or is it just a phase?

Hopefully it is just a phase. If the stinging did not deter her, I am not sure what will. Just tell her no if you see her going after them. Fortunately, most bugs are not harmful.

Ah! A small animal vet. Those are difficult to find.

I personally old a male pink mosaic chinchilla who is about a year and a half old now. I was wondering if you had any particular brand of pellet food you'd recommend. Also, what brand of hay is usually the best?

Emergency!!!

It has been a while since I have dealt with chinchillas, I am not sure what brands of food there are available for them. I recommend timothy hay generally, but not a particular brand. I will try to get you some more information on this. If you don't see another answer here by the end of the week, ask me again.

We have a 15 year old akita/chow mix and he loves animal crackers. I don't give them to him very often and when I do it's only like 2 or 3. I was just wondering, are animal crackers bad for dogs? I know they're not exactly good for him, but will they hurt him? I should have asked before I started feeding them to him, but he's just so damn persuasive. lol

You are right, they are not really good for him, but they are not bad. In fact, for cookies, animal crackers are not too bad. Just keep him to a very few.

I'm wondering what type of litter you recommend for a guinea pig. I use Yesterday's News but it gets dirty fast.

I do recommend yesterday's news, generally. I am sorry I don't have a better recommendation for you. I will ask about.

Thank you. I'm glad I'm doing what a vet recommends. I just need to clean his house often. No big deal. biggrin

Thanks, I guess it is better than her eatng my shoes. Her fur is growng back from the dog bite, and her winter coat is coming in really dark. I had to explain to my step dad that dogs have two coats, a winter one, which is thicker, and a summer one that is lighter...I don't think he understood, because he is still asking why she sheads so much. If I can, I will get some new pics up for you to see.

Okay, I talked to my granpa, and he says we can't affored to get Logan [[my puffed up parakeet]] to the vet. We have noticed that his cagemate Kurt will sit next to him on their perch, and preen his feathers.

Do you have any suggestions, or do you think we should just see where it goes from here?

I know that i might have to give molly up.... I would walk her also, to try and keep her happy, but the last time I tried, she dragged me 3 blocks before I could get her to calm down. My dad is considering keeping her at his electrical shop (no wires outside or anything) as a guard dog, because it a rough part of town. I wouldn't get to see her as much, but it would be better than never seeing her again...

95% of all teen girls would go into a panic if the Jonas brothers were on a 247 foot building about to jump to kill themselves. Copy and paste this if you are one of the 5% who brought popcorn, a chair, and shouted DO A FLIP!

Increase the temperature of the environment where they are kept and make sure there are no drafts. Make sure Logan is eating. If he is not eating, try giving him some special treats. Lots of TLC, but don't bother him too much so he gets stressed.

I will keep my fingers crossed for Logan.

That is rough (having to give up your pet), but it might be the best answer for Molly. It might make her much happier. Have you tried a pinch collar for taking her for a walk? It should not be left on, but helps to keep the pulling down and lets them know they are supposed to be behaving.

Let me know how things work out. I will be thinking of you.

well, my yorkie puppy is usually a giant bundle of joy.
but ever since the place where I live sprayed an insecticide outside my apartment she has been acting weird.
first, her ears are completely down, and I think that just the pure exhaustion is making her ears go down, sort of like how a beagle's ears go down.
and her ears are always perked up, unless she being scolded, then they lay back
http://i359.photobucket.com/albums/oo31/crashbashflash/raltsy.jpg
that is her usually.
secondly, she will not sleep. like, she'll lay down for maybe two minutes and she'll hop up like something just bit her behind, then start digging at wherever she's at then run around and itch like crazy.
(it's not fleas)
lastly, she won't use the bathroom at all
She has an appointment tomorrow morning at 10, my vet couldn't get her in any sooner, so nothing with TAKE HER TO THE VET IMMEDIATELY, I'm doing the best I can.

Thanks for the info.

Kurt has been letting ''Mr.Puffy feathers'' eat first when they are fed, so I know he's eating. I'll see wheat I can do about the room tempature is warmer, but not as to make them uncomofrtable.
