hi xana
i have a dog that i got a week ago and ever since she got here from the pound he has being vomiting its food and he is crying all the time we took him to the vet but they couldnt help him because the vet was closed please help me like he comes from the pound i am scared he doesent have that much time please help me what do i do is there a kind of medicine or something please help me i love my dog i really dont want to loose him neighter does my family crying

Vomiting can be from worms, infections, and bad food (not from you, but the shelter). Withold food for 12 hours and only give small amounts of water or ice chips. Then start giving him small amounts of bland food like boiled chicken and rice. If he still cannot hold down food, definitely go to the vet. IF he is having diarrhea, particularly bloody diarrhea, he needs to go to the vet ASAP, because he may have parvo.

I will keep my fingers crossed for your puppy.

I just got my first goldfish (Alfredo) and once i toke him out of the bag
and put him into his new home, he swam to the front corner of his aquarium
and stared at the glass. IT'S BEEN LIKE 2 DAY'S SINCE I GOT HIM AND HE'S
STILL STARRING AT THE SAME CORNER!

even when i feed him, he goes up to the surface and eats his food
the he comes back down and goes into his corner to
stare at the glass : ( what should i do?

He may be seeing a reflection of himself. Try moving the tank so the light hits it differently.

Hello again! It's been a while. ^_^
I hope everyone's pets are doing well!

I've got another question about my Mimi. It's not very major, so this can go at the bottom of your priority list.
Mainly she just needs to be brushed, but when we try to brush her, she attacks it. We don't brush her hard, could it just be that we started brushing her too late in life and she's just like "wtf?" or should we try another kind of brush?
She's got short hair, but sheds an awful lot in all seasons and it irritates my boyfriend's allergies when she rubs all over him(as she is prone to do, he's the only one she SEEKS attention from when he's here).

I have three questions for you Xana44. My first question is I have a miniature pincher or mixed miniature pincher named Bear and he has extremely large ears that he constantly feels the need to scratch. We clean his ears regularly, but he is still scratching is there more I can do? My second question is about my young sisters mixed labrador Destiny has large lumps all over her body should we take her to the vet immediately? My final question is about my twin sisters miniature pincher Loki. Loki seems to have a fear of going to the bathroom outside. He hunches over and moves around like he is going to go for five minutes then changes his mind then does it again. Is there someway to make him more comfortable going to the bathroom outside. For the record Bear is 9 turning 10 and so is Destiny and Loki is only 2. Thank you for any assistance!

Take Bear to the vet to have him checked for an ear infection. Also try feeding him a lamb and rice diet. Sometimes ear infections are secondary to food intolerance.

Unless Destiny's lumps are changing rapidly, they can be checked on her next regularly scheduled exam. If they are changing or bothering her, then definitely have her looked at. The greatest likelihood is that they are benign lumps.

Is Loki's problem with poop? It sounds like it. If it is, take him to a vet or groomer to have his a**l glands checked. Dogs with very full or impacted a**l glands will often have discomfort when having a bowel movement. IF he is having urine issues, I would recommend that you have him checked at your vet for a bladder infection.

Thanks!

Yeah I've got one, can Catnip hurt dogs?

Before you ask. I put some catnip on my cats food and the dog came and ate the leftovers so, should I expect to be cleaning up some vomit later?

No it will not hurt dogs a bit. But as far as I know, it does not have the same effect on them.

It was quite a mess but we're finding a new home for one of my babies (she's still a sweetie towards humans) so the healing is the only part we're worrying about. But the wounds are clean (my mom is a nurse and knows a bit about animals from working with humans) but my babies just got mites on top of that so it is itchy. D: Poor things... We're treating them with some sort of spray medicine for the mites but it seems like everything is going wrong. I will make sure her nails are clipped tomorrow and find a cute little doll outfit. =) She'll be adorable.

Thank you so much for your help! <3

Oh no! I am sorry to hear that they have mites. That is a bummer and very itchy too. You will have to post a picture if you can get her to wear the clothes.

Hm...Had a similar effect on me. Thanks then, and later.

i just found out that my cat has fleas. what do i do?! please help.

Get a product like Fronline, Advantage, or Revolution from your vet. Apply as directed. Vacuum your house especially around the baseboards, couches, beds, and under the cushions daily and empty the canister or bag daily also.

Sorry that you got infested crying . Fleas are no fun at all.

I just got a kitten about 5 weeks ago, and he's now a few months old.
He doesn't seem very playful, or curious like kittens should be.
When I first picked him up from the pound, we got home and all was fine.
But when I tried to pick him up, he would meow like he was in pain.
Does he maybe have a problem you can help me with?
Thank you for your time!

It sounds like you really need to have your kitten checked out by a vet. I am concerned that he may have a problem with his intestines. I wish I had a remedy you could try at home, but I really think he needs to be seen.

Okay, I'll try to see if I can take him to the vet.
Thank you very much, It's my dream to become a vet someday.

I don't really have a question to ask you, but I've been lurking around your thread for a few days and I must say this is a really amazing thread. =D I'm 16 and have always wanted to be a vet. This thread is extremely interesting to me. I hope you don't mind me lurking just to read some of the answers .-.

Please make yourself at home here. If you have any questions about the answers, please ask!

Try another kind of brush. She may also think you are trying to play. I like the Furminator or the Furbuster which is the walmart knock off. It will help with the shedding.

Try wiping Mimi down with a damp cloth every day. People are actually allergic to cat's saliva, not the fur. Wiping the cat down, removes the saliva from the fur and skin, so they are less allergenic. Sounds weird, but really helps.

Tell your boyfriend to really stare at Mimi. It is hostile toward the cat, but may make her like him less (if that is what you want). Most allergic people look at a cat and then look away, hoping it will not notice them. This is actually inviting the cat to come over.

Hope this helps!

Haha she's actually the only cat he doesn't call evil. He's become quite attached to her and seeks her out when he comes over.
I've tried these chamomile wipes that I bought from Wal-Mart and they were supposed to help with people who are allergic. It seemed to help him, but she hated it. lol
She would know when I was going for them, and would run away.
I'll definitely try the Furbuster if I can get my hands on it.
Thanks! ^_^

I used a comb on her a little bit ago, and she really seemed to like it. So maybe I'll try that again once I get one just for her.

The chamomile probably had a strong smell to her and that would be irritating to her. Try the plain cloth.

The Furbuster is kind of like a comb, so she may like that. It really gets the loose hair out. They should be paying me! LOL
