Welcome to Gaia! ::

You were, actually. I just checked my Intelli-Angel mule for the event and we even talked about the no-snow topic a couple of pages before the event started. History repeats itself yet again. xD

But yeah, I'm fine with it, I suppose. Better warm and sunny with not-so-little bouts of rain that stop classes every so often than fluctuating seasons of extreme warmth and cold.

And speaking of events, I'm thinking of reviving the mule for the whole of February, but this time with a Valentine's theme. Unless anyone else is planning something, of course. With giveaways a lot more valuable than simple giftboxes, if my funds shall permit.
Bwah ^w^
Too funny.

I think it's funny, after I mention snow we get an odd type flurry that didn't leave much on the ground, but was difficult to drive through.

AND it had lightning.

Snowstorm with zap, even that one is new to me.
Well, I would say that 2007-2009 was probably the thread's heyday, Zetty! I remember back around page 10k, we were speeding along at a rate of a page per minute, which was admittedly a little headache-inducing.

Edit: After a short investigation, I found that around 10,000 of the thread's approximately 18,000 pages were filled in 2007. eek That is over half of the total pages in a single year! We were very busy bumble-bees.

Saki! surprised How wonderful to see you. What have you been up to all this time? The mule is a lovely idea, though I'm afraid the intelli-thread is extremely sleepy these days, and you may struggle to persuade it to emerge from its hibernation. I am still planning to do something with the thread, though it may involve starting a new one entirely (this would be a pity in a way, as I had always hoped it would make the 20k mark). We will have to see. I am still mulling, as I need to come up with some kind of system which does not make the demands on my time that the old one did... back when I was running the thread properly, I was a student, so spending all day on Gaia was a more legitimate arrangement! rofl

We have not had any snow here yet. But it has been extremely chilly, and this is usually around the time of year it arrives, so I am expecting it any day now. I love snow. heart
Today, I spent an hour online researching mechanical pencils.

The one I've been using, for years and years, fell apart the other day, and is no longer in production. Finding the right combination of features turned out to be surprisingly difficult.

"It's just a pencil," but if I'm going to be using it for any length of time, it may as well be a good one.
That's some dedication rp. Though if you're used to a certain kind I can understand it.

Gent-> what a growth spurt ^.^ though the thread may not rocket along as quickly now a days I like to think of it as a fairly stable thread in it's golden years. Unless of course you want to throw a devious switch and recruit like minded posters from similar threads XD
Mechanical pencils are a serious business. I get quite perturbed if I do not have one to hand at any given moment. Mind you, I do tend to buy cheap ones myself, because I lose them on a regular basis.

Zetty... well, I do like to throw devious switches. I am currently tucked up in bed with the flu - and feeling quite sorry for myself, I might add - so due to being unable to concentrate on work of the proper sort, I have been putting together a draft version of the reincarnation of the intelli-thread. It will need some tweaking, but I think I have found a way to operate a points system which does not require my constant attention the way the old one did, so I am quite pleased with myself. I need to start some other plates spinning first, but a magical metamorphosis is on my agenda.

I also spent this afternoon sorting all of my Gaia items into "keep", "sell", and "prizes" piles. It was an extraordinary amount of work. gonk And I can't even begin to get my head around the item avalanche which has occurred here in the last year or two! What is all this stuff?!

I have three mechanical pencils that I have had for 13 years. They are architect / engineer drafting pencils .3 .5 and .7

I can't do those drafting pencils with the stabby bits on the ends. But it was important for me to find one with a decent eraser. Definitely something better than the little 1 gram nub in so many of them. Turns out, it's kinda hard to find a good one with a nice extendable eraser.

Sasua! Well I never. surprised heart heart heart

Perhaps I ought to get one of these fancy pencils and affix it to my person so I don't lose it.

Now, erasers are a different kettle of fish. You can never have too many erasers. I use a mechanical eraser (like a mechanical pencil, but with eraser in it instead of lead). I also have an electric eraser, which is an enormously spiffy thing until the battery runs out. And I love those little erasers which fit on the top of pencils. Most of my mechanical pencils wear those. 3nodding
I don't do any artsing or anything, so I just need something good for notes and homework and whatnot. Having a separate eraser just complicates things for me. I'll admit that there's probably definitely some good ones out there, and they'd make a good compliment to some good pencils, but it just seems to me like the two could be combined from the start. For my purposes, anyway. For art purposes, I'd definitely agree that many erasers have their uses.

What I settled on. If this doesn't turn out well enough, I may just end up settling with a separate pencil/eraser combo
Hey!

I disapeared for awhile as I visited my Nan for the past week. It was her 80th birthday on the 20th and she still tools around her house all on her own ^.^

But to catch up -> You can spin plates Gent!?

(Yes, all that very interesting stuff about a new points system and THAT's what I come away with.)

That's too bad about the flu, my dad has had a bad head cold for the past two weeks, he can't seem to shake either; but here's hoping the two of you have quick recoveries.

I eel like I wrote too many words ending in 'ad' in the same sentence up there.....

I have always liked having a separate eraser (my dad was always enthusastic about getting us a good one - his preferred one now that I think about it), so whenever I had mechanical pencils it was good odds that my teensy eraser was untouched. (For the better part of the first semester anyway). I was a lending depot for most of my classmates, so in the end all of my things may have suffered (other than my personal reserve pencil I guess).

Still I liked getting new things every year, so any survivors were usually given away at the start of next year or donated to the odds drawer at home :/

Does this make me a bad person~!!???

Oh! Mechanical pencils! Maybe it's just a matter of resisting change, but this is the first mechanical pencil I ever used, and I love it. It does have an extendable eraser, but I'm not sure if it weighs more than a gram...

So, you know how little girls often have celebrity crushes? Naturally, I skipped over that phase of childhood, but I'm making up for it now. Help. Magnus Carlsen.
He's Norwegian. heart heart heart
I considered that one if I couldn't find anything better. But I was hesitant because of the side clicky button. Not necessarily a deal breaker, but I do like the top clicky ones better.
Oh, neat! I personally prefer it there, but yeah. Now, if someone could recommend a good pen...(if someone actually does want to recommend a good pen, just know that I'm not looking for anything specific really, just something I can throw in my backpack.)
I don't get pizza T.T I have to go to work.

I like my calligraphy pens myself, though messy to change inks.
