It shouldn't be thrown back in your face because you're working. You're just not making the money he is. How would he feel if the paycheck was reversed in that you were making the big money and he wasn't, yet he was still required to pay half. I expect that from roommates. My former roommate was making a lot more money than me because she was an Accountant. I was in Research at the time but was able to still pay half the bills and had to limit other personal things so I am left with money for savings because my goal was to move out without a roommate.

It's a different situation when your roommate is actually your life-partner. There's definitely got to be a discussion there. You've been together for almost 5 years and you both need to talk about putting money together in a savings account.

I've told him the way I feel right now about money,
I don't want a combined account because of the way my parents were and still are about money.
My mom is always spending so much damn money.
She doesn't work, but I know she was a hard-working at-home mom with the four of us.
But I grew up having to listen to screaming and yelling and occasional physical moments,
all over freakin money.
I'm supposed to have lunch with him today, so I'll be talking with him about a savings.
I've never really thought of doing just a savings before, silly me, but that is a wonderful idea.
I need to work on my financial situations myself.
I've gotten much better about not going and spending what little money I had on clothes and accessories I don't really need,
but it'd be nice to still do it from time to time for him and myself.

When ever I get some free time,
I'll randomly post a thread in the CB that I'm doing signs for donations,
and I'll earn anywhere from 10k-100k from doing that,
depending how many responses I get.
