Welcome to Gaia! ::

Get a job.
Earn money.
Save the world.
I'm going to work on a Home Entertainment PC with my dad. We are currently in the process of selecting parts, then we'll put it together and stick it in our home entertainment system. So I can watch movies on the TV and listen to my mp3s downstairs with ease.
1st order of business: Internship at local municipality. Building them a dynamic website in PHP (oh yeah, learn PHP also), and doing network grunt-work.

2nd: Get my company's servers up and running. We've got a IBM jSeries, 2 hSeries, and an i386-based server we call a "Washtub". I'm in unix-land, and I'm up the proverbial creek. xp

3rd: Well, whatever's left I suppose.
Oh, some really interesting projects. 3nodding

1. Learn how to, and build my bank's database.
2. Finish up homeschooling stuff we're getting out of the way(including some of my Computing Tech course).
3. Get a job.
4. Learn Python.
5. Wipe my second hard drive and install Debian on it.
6. Finish several other minor projects having nothing to do with computers.

Before the summer, I created a small list of things I'd like to acheive.
1. Get job again. Make money
2. Learn python
3. Learn a bit of C++
4. Build a thermoelectric air cooler
5. Build a small computer based around Z80 / m68000

I've already got a job; The aircooler looks impractical and expensive; I probably won't end up learning any C++ (but I'd still like to learn python) and I have very few EE tools available to me (as I'm staying with my parents) so the computer idea has been shelved.

Yours is quite similar to mine.

1. Get a job.
2. Relearn C++, properly (long story) OR learn Python.
3. Other minor and short-term projects.

Can someone suggest a project for me to do so that I would have to use C++?

Whatever you do, if you decide to use a GUI, look into wxWidgets. ( www.wxwidgets.org ) when used properly, it lets you write c++ code which will compile on windows, mac, or linux without modifications.
