Win 2k? That's still used? :o

Aw, man, Vista's gonna lose support. Nuts. :c

I've seen Win95 still being used in a hospital. Mind you that was way back in 2004 (I think) but I'm willing to bet that they still have that machine there. More recently I have seen Win2K being used up to about 1 year ago on a few client machines.

Wow. :O

Why would they keep them? Money issues?

That, or they rely on ancient software or hardware that has never been updated or supplanted. There's a lot of that.

It's shameful.

In my industry we see a lot of legacy versions of Windows simply because POS software relies on its terrible permissions architecture, and a need to work on both Windows embedded and more XP. That, and the hardware in use is always at least five years behind consumer hardware.

Windows 8 will be coming out soon. I think this is part of Microsoft's attempt to get onto a 3 year release schedule and to only support 2 operating systems at a time.

I feel that it would be unfair to support only Windows 7 right now, but by the time Windows 8 gets released, vendors are gonna have to start phasing out Windows Vista support.

I think it's unfair that Microsoft has to support those clowns. They should dump XP and Vista support entirely. (And having Vista on my laptop, I won't even mind.)

I agree. While Windows XP will be supported until April 2014, Microsoft has quietly extended consumer support for both Windows Vista until April 2017 and Windows 7 until January 2020! 3nodding
