Welcome to Gaia! ::

Visual Studio .Net is de shizzle. It'd be nice if we could use that, but then that one is certainly not free, and even to college students it's $35.

If needs be we can use G++ or something.

As for the dates, Hetaira brings up a good question. Here's my suggestion:

Before you can go on a date, there's a period where you have to get to 'know' the person. you have to 'impress' them somehow. Maybe by talking to their firends, buying them drinks, chatting them up, or whatever. It would be easy to set up a point system, and once you pass a certain number of points, the girl/guy is enamored enough with you to go on a date, you set up a place and time (Is the game in real time? If it's online, how will time be measured?). If they like the place, you get some bonus points on the relationship scale. If they don't like the place, you lose points (For some reason, I doubt hanging out at a Casino on the first date would make the date like you...)

Once there, you would have to do date-ish things. Talking, buying drinks and food or entertainment. But, what you can do is restricted by each date: each of them have limits. Some might be ready to hop into bed after the second date, and some might take a lot of convincing. Some might also not like it if you try to kiss them or feel them up on the first date. See where I'm going here?

And for each date, we can script some sort of event. Maybe a jealous ex-boyfriend comes along looking for blood and you have to best him in a game of Go or you die. Of course that was a bit of an exaggeration, but other things can range from maybe a mugger, to something more mundane like locking the keys out of the car or something like that.

And in the end, the date success or failure depends on how you act with each character, and how much they 'like' you.

Aieee, I go to bed for around 11 hours and look how many pages it's gained...

CVS! I can provide CVS services from my server (my little linode) should you require it. I'll just go yum it up right now...

So are we decided on using OpenGL/C++ in an isometric-ish view?

For the lobbys and chat areas, I think with dates tho it should be a more face too face thing hee. With Kitersu's idea that the characters face then changes when you use smilies as well would be quite nice ^^.

Thanks for the offer of CVS, if you can supply that it would be great ^_^.

A game that mimics that is something called... um... Leisure Suit Lary, Love for Sale. It was an online game and had stuff like that.
EDIT: By stuff like that, it had an isometric view and you could change your characters clothing and get them to smile and so forth. I don't know the details because I've never played it.

I don't know if a Gaian gold system would be so great. You'd at least need something like the not-as-yet-implimented Casino to keep things interesting.

I think an interest system as well so you get +2% of your current gold every day you use it. not multiple times per day tho. Also Minutes spent on it is recorded then next time you get given that ammount of gold kinda thing. Encouraging people too use it more and more... hee ^^;.So like A minute is like $1. Ah well just a suggestion ^^. Leave that too later I think tho. Casino would be a good date location too 3nodding .
that is mmoh ? o.O Iddindt know ..... .... mmm ..... my friend told me was asome... I ... dont know .....

Er?

Aren't you lucky, foolish? blaugh
Really though, 35 isn't bad for me. Now I'm actually doing so web work for the school so I get my software for free. Heh heh.
Nothing like code wanking for cash.

LSL:LFS wasn't like that. It was a 2d adventure game that looked like a cartoon. :/ Kind of like sam & max, king's quest, or a slew of others. It was side view, not isometric.

Hee, you know what some people are like, anyways I am back home now and online. I am gunna update the supporters list and get an index.htm ready for the new site ^^;.

1. is there going to be 4 directions from the side, or is it top down.
a. *for a 4 directional character there would be 2 drawings at 45
degrees (like gaia characters) front/back are fliped to create 4.
same for matching articles of clothing/items (item have attributes
of front, back, front/back; front layer, back layer, front/back layer)

2. how big will the worlds be on average.
a. *for memory purposes

3. will there be different body "builds" / "busty-ness".

4. what will be the standard compiler
a. *I got codewarrior 5.3 or Microsoft visual studio 6

5. *because i'm sure their is walking animation, so because this is the hardest, i was thinking that there would only be 3 "states". 2 for stepping animation and a neutral which would bo in between the stepping animation when walking

1. That would be good espically considering the isometric plane.

Remember that isometric stuff is for the Lobbies and chatrooms, Not for Dating, Love Hotel and World Navigation. I think a shopping center could be done in isometic what could also act as a chatting area for meeting people but go into a different view when talking too shop keepers.

Quick Correction 4 directionally would be on 90 degrees as 4 * 90 = 360. still could have one some at 45 degrees or 30 degrees so you see the characters turning ^^.

2. Let's try too keep it so we can fit most things in on a 800 by 600.

however as the project gets bigger that will probably go out the windows. I hope not too exceed 3 by 3 800 by 600 screens but I guess for just incase make it so that it can go up too 5 by 5 800 by 600 screen what is 4000 by 3000. Then virtual screen like scrolling could be implented.

3. Probably not at first but later on it would be good.

4. Let's try too keep it so that it will work on the majority of C++ compilers ^^. People will want too test what they have done works after all and not everyone is willing too pay.

NPC might be added but that isn't the route I am trying too go for with MMO now ^^;.
i think some people on previous posts are confused!

this is a MASSIVE MULTYPLAYER ONLINE HENTAI GAME

even more emphasis on multyplayer.

it's not single player like ganguro girls, or franks adventure.

~you interact!

Ah thanks, I answered some questions above hee ^^;. Sorry if I am late answer questsions or miss them ^^;. If I miss a question point it out too me and I will try and answer them. I don't mind having it pointed out in a PM ^^;. I didn't answer questions until now today since I was at college ^^.
Hmm. Aside from the player dates, a few NPCs should be available for dating. They could range in different difficulty levels. A way to get around noob players going to high level NPCs would be to put them in places where you need alot of money. Also, depending on the place where you decide to bang bang, there could be some penalties and a pleasure factor. Banging on top of a wet mattress at the Roach Motel would be a little less exciting than making sweet love in a bathtub with rose petals at the Im So Rich Hotel.

That's one thing that struck me. Perhaps have a few places to make love, maybe a cheap motel, a nice inn, a rich hotel, or, if your broke, a hill at a park.

Then you could have, during character creation, a place to choose fetishes and the like. So if you, for example, spank someone that isn't into that particular fetish, you could lose points. However, they can get an option to "discover" new fetishes as they go along, with some penalties for each. If you have hardcore chain n' whips sex, maybe you'll be too sore to do anything the next day.

Just some ideas.

I am not ruling out NPC characters. However you must remember too have both Male and Female NPC dates if we do get on too them. I am just saying that primarily let's get the whole MMO sorted out before adding NPC's ^^. After all NPC's could be easily added in after compared too going NPCs then trying too get real dates.

So have yall decided on an engine type yet? Isometric-Diablo-like? Or something different? I could do most of the engine but my art sucks.
Yeah there sould be NPCs (for the geeks who dont/cant get laid) A good range of NPCs would also be good. Like from $2 whore to ******** Bill Gates rich. As far as dates go, there should be places that suit a wide range of people. A bar might be good for some, while an opera might be good for others.

i was a little vague. i meant a 45 degree angle from the view.

. precieved direction left / \precieved direction right
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . |
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . |
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . player view
Ok let me clear this up. Isometic view will only be used in chat-rooms, lobbies and shopping areas. Dates will be a more face to face thing. And love hotels will probably be done like interactive hentai movies that both people interact with, the models would then be made too look like the characters for this part.

I get you know banjer. I got too go for a bit now will be back soon tho ^^;. As I said NPC's should come later else it will make getting real dates too complicated and get away from the entire point but it's open-source so you can add themself if you want too.

Now the last thing I think needs sorting out before coding starts is how shall it be done. What does everybody think of my idea of a Client, Host and server programs beign sepurate. The Host is a chat-room host what other can be connected too. The Server is server side software too power the lobbies and will allow people too connect there chatrooms too. It will store currently active chatrooms and IPs of the chatroom's host.

The client would power the most part of it and handle the graphical aspect of the whole thing. It could work offline for NPC dates and that but that I am not totally worried about.

This then gives a connection of Client to host and host too server. One thing I was thinking about was making it so that the server software costs £2.50 donation too the server (not myself it is a .org) but then they can put a small banner somewhere as advertisement to get that back. Tho that is just an idea that I am throwing with the Client, Host and Server idea too the public. Well I have to go for 20 minutes I will see what people think of these ideas then ^^.
