Yeah learning curve of most programming can be steep for some people. You always have to start small. No matter how powerful the urge is to try and write something massive, and complicated, make sure you start simple.

Start with hello world, and then learn from there.

Really the best way to learn Java (or any programming language) is to take a class. Maybe your school offers a course on it?


Actually I think the best way to learn Java (or any programming language) is by solving a real problem. If there's a program you want to write, try doing it. Read the more basic tutorials to begin with, and move on to the more complicated stuff you couldn't do first after you are more familiar with the syntax/paradigm. Ask people for help if you really don't know what to do next.
