Isn't tethering just allowing your PC to use the phone as a modem over USB? My Galaxy S allows itself to turn into a WiFi hotspot, so it doesn't need a tether cable. I was under the impression that tethering was just a fancy way of using the phone as a modem, still paying for your data plan...
Yes, but most mobile carriers have you pay for that separately. So using without paying for it can make them quite upset.

Ah. Don't think we have that kind of bullshit over here. Which is surprising, usually we're right up there on the bullshit levels.

Why can't it just be simple? Pay for data, in whatever way the contract says so. Why add all these complications on HOW you use the data?
