Welcome to Gaia! ::

Recently I've been very interested in purchasing a new tablet PC for personal use. Mainly to surf the internet using it's wifi, and to watch videos/movies on when I have the time.

I've done a little research of my own where I went to a variety of stores around the mall, and compared prices and hardware, but I get this fleeting feeling that I'm missing something.

So far I believe that the Apple Ipad 2 isn't a good deal since the Android based tablets appear to have better performance and wifi flash ability. Yet, there are a variety of android tablets and I have no idea which one to chose.

As a result I'd like to ask anyone that visits this thread to choose what they think is the best Tablet PC out in the market at this moment, and to give a few words as to why they think that. Also you can choose a variety of tablets if you so desire. Hopefully your feedback will help me to decide which Tablet PC I'll be purchasing for myself.

Thanks in advance.
I bought a Kindle Fire around a week ago, my sister bought an Asus Transformer around a month ago. Mine was a sixth of the price and it tends to perform better.

My favorite Brand is ESPOW. By far the best tablet computers around and I have tested several. And you can own it at a affordable price. You can use it to play games, listen to music and read electronic books, ect when taking a bus. It’s a wonderful tool to help you kill the boring during your trip!
It’s a wonderful must that I should recommend to you gays~ heart

First you talk about tablet PCs (essentially laptop computers with a swiveling touch display that run a desktop version of Windows), then go on to talk about tablet devices (smaller, lighter, cheaper portables that run Android or iOS). Which is it?

Overall, it seems that the best tablet (soon to be) available is the Asus Eee Pad Transformer TF700. It's not out yet, but it's got the highest-end hardware available for tablets, and it's supposed to ship with either Android Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0) or Windows 8 for ARM. (I'm praying it comes out soon so I can buy one.)

Second to that, I hear good things about the Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime TF201.

Personally, I have, and love, a Motorola Xoom (most people hate it because the power/standby button is on the back instead of on the edge) and the heavily-discounted and discontinued HP TouchPad. I've recently ordered a Archos 101 G9 Turbo, which I'm excited to play with. I also own a Samsung Galaxy Tab 7" (not to be confused with the Galaxy Tab 7.0, which is a newer version), which I also adore.

Other tablets I've seen highly recommended include the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1", Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0, Lenovo IdeaPad K1, Barnes and Noble Nook Tablet, and the Toshiba Thrive.

Of all of these, the Archos 101 G9 Turbo is the best deal, and the unreleased Asus Eee Pad Transformer TF700 is the best tablet overall.

I meant for the discussion to be about tablet pc's that are like the ipad 2, but android based processors.

I heard about the upcoming asus eee pad transformer prime tf201 because I recently found out that the new android 4.0 icecream sandwich processor was coming in. After posting the thread a while ago I found that the new 4.0 processor was probably going to be my best best. So I thank you for reassuring me on that part.

What could you possibly do with so many tablets?

I'd like to clarify something for you, so that you can be less confused about these things in the future:

A processor is the physical part of the device that runs software code.
Android and iOS are operating systems. They are software that runs on the processor. Windows is another kind of operating system.

The processors in these tablets is based on designs called ARM processors. They are a particular kind of processor that is designed to be both fast and capable as well as using very little battery power - so that batteries can last a lot longer than most other processor designs. Intel processors used in laptops and desktop computers are more powerful, but require a lot more battery power to run.

Language is important - once you get the words right, it's a lot easier to avoid confusion and make better buying decisions.

A good recommendation. There's also the Asus MeMo, which I forgot about. Both good 7" tablets.
