Sticky: Official "Slow Down" error thread - Updated Sept. 11

I noticed the SLOW DOWN ERROR, when doing things on the Marketplace-auctions,etc.; and in the Forums, so far.

In addition, the black screen on the Booty Grab appeared more often during the PSP raffle week.

I didn't make note of the URLs. However, I use Windows Vista, Google Chrome.

I can't get to any other screen but the "slow down" one from the second I log on to my other account. This has been happening to me since 3pm today. I'm using the latest version of Firefox with adblock plus and the tektek tool bar

I moved over to IE to see if it changed anything and logged on with a mule of mine.

Still managed to get it once or twice, and then, upon trying to log in another half-hour later, got it after clicking login.

This account is still getting it heavily as well.

I usually use the newest Firefox with Adblock Plus and the Tektek Toolbar.

I understand that the Hotshot page must remain as it is an anti-botting measure, but has any thought gone into the possibility of updating the information found on the page, or providing a captcha on the page to help prevent these 1/3/20 hour lockouts? Many users are still afraid of getting banned for botting or having their trading passes disabled for doing nothing even close to botting.

Also, have you figured out why there was an increase in the messages in the first place? Is it the fault of Firefox's latest update, a third-party toolbar, or something on Gaia's end? It seems like many people have been getting very upset over this...all we want is some good communication about this error.

I've gotten the "Slow Down" error for the first time yesterday and three more times soon after the "cooling period". Each time I was playing or well partaking in the Summer event "battling" with another user. I was going to perform an action and the error would come up. :/ Though I did also have other tabs open with different forumns and threads.

Honestly, I'm worried and don't know what to do. x_x

I was using firefox, but have now switched over to IE.

it also happens on many different areas: guilds, subscribed threads list, inside threads, browsing around the site ...

I was nowhere near my computer for 15-20 minutes and yet when I hit 'refresh' it blocked me. This happens every day lately even if I haven't clicked a link for up to thirty minutes, and to be honest it's getting very difficult to use the site at all. I've tried clearing my cache but that didn't help at all. I'm using Firefox (latest version, 3.0.10 or something), has Skype extension add-on, Meebo add on, and antivirus add on. No extra toolbars installed.

Have the same problem in Internet Explorer, which has absolutely no add-ons or toolbars.

I just got the error and I was getting it yesterday too. My main account is still blocked out right now. And its weird too because I wouldn't even have been doing anything I'd just have my subscription page open and not even clink anything or try to change pages for up to half and hour because I'd be doing something on another site and then I'd come back to go to one of my subs and it would throw that slow down error at me. Which I don't know how I could have been going to fast when my page hadn't loaded or done anything for 30 minutes. It was doing this a lot a couple weeks ago, then it stopped, and now its doing it again. And its annoying, since I can't log out of my account, I can't even go to the gaia log in page, it just shows the slow down error screen again. It seems to be a random place too, its no particular pages really where it does it. Seems completely random.

This "Slow Down" error is really bugging me.
I am an exchanger, so I have to open at least three tabs on my browser, and I always end up getting this error. Actually, even when I'm not doing it I still have problems. It seems to appear in any random page. I think it started four days ago, when I decided to come back to Gaia. Now I'm seriously thinking of leaving it again, because it's almost impossible to navigate on the site.
I use Mozilla Firefox and have Skype and Norton Antivirus add-ons, but I tried disabling them and I still kept getting this error. So I switched to Internet Explorer, but it didn't work. Finally, I decided to navigate slower and open less tabs and guess what? STILL getting the "Slow Down" error!

Yes i think the Firefox browser might have something to do with it and the Devs are workin hard to fix this

i believe i had posted a link to Carbon's thread i while back so post in there if you have specific dates/times or anything relevant to that ^^

I'm having the EXACT same problem as [T]he [O]thers. I'm getting this lock-out message but I'm not moving very fast at all. In fact I got one on the first click after being inactive for half an hour. It's happening mostly in the forums as I'm browsing. It started yesterday at around 5 pm. I have been locked out for hours at a time and it's made gaia nearly impossible to use.

The first thing I did yesterday was disable my Gaia Toolbar (the actual Gaia Toolbar, not the TekTek, and it's the only one I have on one computer, and the same except my other computer has avg which is disabled) and the problem still persists.

I have made this thread containing more detailed information.

I used Firefox on two computers (I've tried switching due to different versions of firefox but doesn't fix the problem). Both use Windows XP. On one I use Firefox 5.0 - 3.0.13 and the other I use 5.0 - 3.5.2

Even slowing down my posting, I get this error. I do often have had two tabs open but I do not refresh them at the same time and have been allowing time in between when moving between them.

Please help =( I can't even open my art shop because I can't manage the thread with this problem! crying

Yes this is the exact problem on which the devs are working on

The same thing happened to me...i got 3 slowdown messages in under 10min and then was locked out for a good 1~2hrs+

i also have firefox and im starting to think that firefox is causing the problems with the error page

It's possible that it's firefox, but above someone said they had the same problem with IE so... I am not sure. But thank you for the reply. I'll just have to stay off gaia for a while until they fix it. I've seen that error message too many times and the risk of me being permabanned is probably pretty high atm.

Through Deduction you can probably tell the Since a Dev actually replied the chances of you being permanently banned are practically impossible considering the circumstances at which you receive this....a dev said that they monitoring patterns in which you receive the Slowdown page so considering your case as well as mine are completely random and happen at instances me and you probably wont getting banned or have our trading passes disabled for something that "Database" is having problems with >.<

All in all just stay on Gaia...well miss you if you go ;~;

you appear to be incorrect, my trading pass has been disabled. I'm very upset. Gaia never fixed the issue and now I'm being punished... is there something I can do?

Tho if you try to contact an omnimod or CarbonPhyber himself they might be able to sort out your problem

Me myself I haven't gotten my trading pass disabled yet...(probably because of the fact that I've been suck in school for the past month =w=" [Dx my school started a month early])

Tho the problems that you're explaining are exceptionally similar to the problems that others are having, so reporting this might help your current situation.
