Lucky me, destiny- you are on my side

I've been hearing lately that a lot of people are getting kicked off their accounts for various amounts of time for the 'slow down, hotshot!' messages. I actually got one earlier and the other day, and I'm absolutely certain I wasn't reloading fast or at the same intervals or something that may be misinterpreted as a bot.

But right now, a minute ago, my browser tried to open three tabs on Gaia, all at once, like it was reloading pages for me. I've heard that this is a possible side-effect of the tektek toolbar, and I do have that installed, but I've never run into this problem before in the year or so I've been using it.

And I don't want to get locked out of my account for any length of time, either. >>

(More in detail, I got one earlier today, as an example. I had a Gaia tab open, and was browsing another site in another tab. When I went back to refresh my Gaia tab, after possibly 20-30 minutes of not browsing the site, it automatically gave me a slow down, and I wasn't allowed on for probably five to ten minutes or so. The one I got before could have been because I was constantly reloading on one tab, and I'm not so worried about that one, because I could see that as misinterpreted.)

EDIT, for more information: I don't vend, so I'm not refreshing the market a lot. Generally on Gaia, I post in about one or two threads. Both of the errors I received, explained above, happened during the afternoon (probably 2-5 PM, somewhere in there), which is, coincidentally, the time in which that thread moves the slowest, and probably has the least amount of lurkers. Towards the evenings, until about one-ish my time (Central), I have not gotten the message, and if anyone else there has, they haven't mentioned it, so it's likely they haven't.
This specific Chatterbox thread is the only one in which I've gotten the error at all, since the problem became common.

Edit again: I managed, last night, to get myself kicked off this account about five times. >> No, I wasn't moving fast.

Just once more unto the breach

Ok, I just got kicked off my main account now, because I was "loading pages too fast", even though I wasn't. I'm very pissed now, and I want my account back and running. I'm ready to call Administration about this, because it's getting out of hand. I can't log on that account right now, and I'm really angry. Something really needs to be done about this, because it's obviously recent, but you guys aren't fixing anything yet. I don't know how busy you are, but this is a main priority. SO get it done!

It happens all the time with me D:
very annoying
I think it started when i downloaded flash player 10
i'm using firefox.....

Dutch Friendship ^_^

I get this warning only when I'm dressing my avatar.

As if each click for the item/tab equals one pageload. It gets annoying.

My harlequin-nicholie accouunt has been blocked out as well, and I dont know why. I changed to my internet explorer instead of firefox and logged into my old accounta ndhavent had any issues yet with it. But it still sucks that I come back to gaia aftera leap of absence and everythings changed again, AND it keeps blocking me ot ofmy account.

I miss the good old go-gaia in 2003 when there were only a couple of us and the servers werent being overloaded crying

Thank you for keeping us posted and letting us know you're trying to make this run more smoothly! I just read your update, and the Gaia toolbar I have is the normal one, but I still have issues. So does my mom, actually. The problem is, we get in this little jag where we're making tattoos and loose track of our own speed. The same thing happens with multiple tabs in the market. It's good to know that you ARE working on it, DESPITE what the lousy "Me, me, me, it's all about ME" people say.

I, for one, tend to be able to see that it's my own enthusiasm tripping me up, not any fault of Gaia's.

Who says a woman can't be sexy and cute at the same time? Not Alis, that's for sure!

PM me if you would too!
Thank you CrossStrike for drawing what has to be the sexiest chibi ever!

Dance, Galene, dance!
I've always been getting slow down errors lately.
I had to get like 4 this week and I'm nervous I'll get banned somehow

[I love you Grim Grisly, I'm sorry we ever went on that little break to deal with your busy new life. I don't care anymore if you are gone to war (he's not just an expression lol) I can totally wait for you since I love you//.]

Third-party toolbars are evil. Thanks for keeping us updated.

My trading pass has been disabled. Sad face.

I didn't have any kind of third party toolbar installed. I'm a heavy user of the site and I multitask a lot to keep myself busy. I do refresh pages frequently for vending, check market prices and so on. But I also do things in between that aren't "bot-like" at all like replying to PMs, commenting, posting in the forums etc. Never had a problem until recently and now it seems like I'm screwed because of this.

I don't like to complain, but I have high doubts my trading my pass will ever be enabled again. Customer service always just gives me pre-written responses that aren't helpful at all. Takes months if anything is ever resolved. I regret handing Gaia my money and never will again since I'm treated like that & pretty much ignored. I'm a legitimate user and it would be obvious to anyone who actually took a few minutes to look at my history.
I've been checking my ticket obsessively because I really want to feel like I'm part of Gaia again and I'm nothing without my pass. If it's not resolved soon I'm probably going to be forced to find a new hobby.

Glowing? [X] <-Bump

I first had the problem the day before yesterday. I even was on another website (ebay actually) and went back to the site to reply to a thread and there it was, the message again. The thread I was in on most of the time getting these messages was here: http://www.gaiaonline.com/forum/chatterbox/princess-orphelia-s-chatterbox-funhouse-come-on-in/t.46536059_recent/?_gaia_t_=626 It only really happened when I was replying.

This has happened to me a few times. The first two times I was on another account going around the marketplace for about 45 minutes to an hour and then it locked me out for about 10-15 minutes each time.

It also happened once with this account when I was dressing my avatar earlier today.

I use firefox but do not have any 3rd party toolbars on it at all so I don't know what the problem is.

Aw, see she's much better. She's giving them a bit of the stabby action. And she's finally got som- NOOOO! WHAT DID YOU BLOW UP?!... Put that away Sheva. Things can only go bad when you have a grenade launcher in your hand.

I encountered this twice tonight, both within the past hour whilst attempting to participate in a roleplay in the Gaia Commerce subsection of Barton Town.

Browser: Firefox 3.0.13
Active Add-Ons: Adblock Plus / Java Quickstarter
No toolbars.

When I encountered the first issue, I had been refreshing every five-ten seconds to check for new replies. After the first time, I reduced that to 15-20 seconds and still encountered the error.

crying

I kept on logging to zOMG! but I was not accepted. The map is not loaded (Map timeout), connection timeout. Is it always like this? I'm quite disappointed. or maybe because I have been trying to log in from 10 P.M.-2 A.M. and not even once I was able to get in the game.

Please fix this. It somehow deadens my interest to play the game, because I'm excited to play initially but when the problem of loading and timeout occurs, I get irritated and furious.

Please help.

I believe we have taken the steps necessary to minimize this issue.
I've seen a visible drop in the number of users who see the "Slow Down Buddy" warning.

If you still see the warnings, you are using the site heavily and you may get flagged as a bot.
As much as we would like to be able to allow every user to use the site as much as they can stand it, we need to also flag possible bots.

Also, as is always the case, please make sure no other users have access to your account.

It's in everyone's best interest that we keep bots off the site as they cause unnecessary inflation and they make your account more valuable for hackers to target.

May I point out that this problem only affects me when I use Firefox. Seems their new update is a bit WONKY.

I switched back to browsing Gaia on I-explorer soon after my problem started and it ran perfectly.

So it could just be the browsers fault and not the website.
